Do you believe in bad omens, good omens? Do you have a lucky charm you keep with you?
I didnt belive in bad omens until one happened to me. It happened on an early evening as I was driving down this country road. A bluejay flew into my windshield and was killed. That night, I was drinking (as usual) got kinda drunk and stepped on my cockatiel that I had for 4 years and killed it.
Someone told me that when you kill a magpie, it is a sign something bad willhappen to you. Well, Blujays are in the same family as magpies. Here is what it says about magpies:
"A bird of misfortune indeed and this is especially so if you see one alone. It is however unlucky to kill a Magpie as some believe they are witches in the form of birds."
To this day, I worry about hitting a bird while I drive.

Well... I think people should use their own brain and not believe in things those were thought up many years ago.

silly stuff. but i think of it now and then.
Has any one ever heard of white lighters being bad luck? My friends used to chuck any white lighters that came in to there houses be it friend's or stranger's.
I believe in the power of the human mind and supersitions plays a part in that. I believe that some superstitions are just routines given a different name. Take an athlete like myself, I would try to prepare the same before every game. Someone could call me superstitious because I wanted to do every step the same each time, where as I see it as a routine to keep my body and mind in order.
Other superstitions are based off stories that lead the mind into self-fulfilling prophecies to a point. What I mean is like if a "superstitious" person spills salt or walks under a ladder they think something bad will happen to them. Without thinking about it (sub-conciously) they put themselves into positions where this could happen because that is all they think about. Obviously there are lines to be drawn in this theory, but for the most part, the human brain is more powerful than most people give it credit for.
"It is easier to be cruel than wise. The road to wisdom is long and difficult... so most people just turn out to be assholes" Feng (Christopher Walken)
Well, I'm not quite sure if this is superstitious, but I sure as hell believe in good and bad luck. Also, some people are born lucky, and some are born unlucky. I used to carry around a good luck charm (Even though I'm pretty sure it had absolutely no bearing on my life), but things started going bad eventually, so I ditched it.
Also, I do have a few little rituals that I do based on how my luck is going that day if I need something important to happen (Like, say a bowl game, or applying for a job, etc.).

Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL!
Nope. Don't believe in any superstitions. None at all, sir.
I only get superstitious about football, I wouldn't let my uncle put the sorround sound on the Colts game two weeks ago because when he put it on during the bears game, the Saints scored
Also, I believe that when I sit cross legged on the edge of my seat, the Colts score more frequently, when I sit laid back, they start playing poorly.
atheletes are superstitious people
Of course, I don't actually think either of these things have any bearing whatsoever on the game
no really!
Your argument is like a two legged dog with an eating disorder...weak and unbalanced.
"Red skies in the morning, sailor take warning."
Lived this for 6 years. It is true! every time there was red skies in the morning we were headed into a storm. Its not so much supersicious, just means you are watching for signs of an impending storm. We got chased by twin water spouts one of those mornings while towing two broken down boats. Not a happy feeling.
As for many of the others... the human brain is a crazy thing, and IMO creates your own luck or lack there of.
I shoot for the curve... anything above that is gravy.

RISING DRAGOON ~AION US ONLINE LEGION for Elyos
I was an Operations Specialist in the Navy. We used radar for monitoring our surroundings. We did encounter spikes on our screens, but the tech onboard said it wasnt the equipment. That made us more nervous. Nothing ever happened, but the most of us were very uneasy.
Personally, I think it has something to do with magnetic anomalies in the area. Thats all that I could gather on it. What else could have caused it?

Read the methane hypothesis. To support what you saw, large concentrations of mehtane gas can cause megnetic fields. Thus disrupting electrical equipment.

An explanation for some of the disappearances pinned the blame on left-over technology from Atlantis, for example, the activation of a still-operable death ray.

Oh, and I don't really have any superstitions. As it was stated before, I believe they are self-fulfilling.
