nice game

I tried the Fae trial, and I must say, this game is fun. Many options on race, class, etc. are good. Graphics are top notch, and the design of the game is well done. I may buy this one after years of moving from MMO to MMO.

Yeah the new Echoes of Faydwer expansion had us oldies drooling too. The graphics, music, content are all top notch.

I totally agree, graphics are nice, lots of classes... But then its start to decline

If your still playing after 14 days, great stuff. Personally, Ive never played anything so boring in my life.

i have been playing it for 2 years and i am still not bored with it, and just by your "SOE hater" tagi can see you have probably not tried it, and just wish to complain about SOE for something they may have done to you (and  a lot of others also, lots of us loved SWG, until it got borked) anyway, the graphics in this game are matched by no other (mmorpg) game.

Don't understand SOE haters, SOE screw up in 'one' game and everyone assumes all others games will be bad.  But I'm afraid that just isn't true! =D

You think, just becuase I hate SoE, I dont take advantage of free trial offers?

I played SWG through think and Thin and I hated them for what they did tot he game. But I play EQ2 and I have to say it's a great game. And I don't like SOE my self.

The game is greatly improved to the point that if you haven't played it since the beginning of 2006  you don't know what your talking about.  Also if your bashing it and have only played the free trials, you also don't know what your talking about.  Honestly the original trail of the isle is a joke.  It has nothing that the real game does.  The fae trial seems to be greatly improved but still is nothing like what the whole game offers.  Playing a demo version does gives you a taste, but leaves the good stuff for the paying customers.

I've played beta and free trails of WoW too.  It didn't make me a self proclaimed expert on the game.  My experiences were bad but it also didn't make me a Blizzard hater.  I got a chance to play a full version for a weekend recently.  This was the only way I felt I could actually have an opinion on the game.

Most of the haters I have seen here have not played more than a free trial, and/or have not been in the game in well over a year.  If you take the self proclaimed haters very lightly then your better off.  Go beyond just trolling and create an informed opinion.

I dont drink, EQ2 sucks. In your opinion... in your opinion... in your opinion

This forum would be such a happier place if people would stop stating thier opinions as facts.

    Example 1:   "I don't drink, I just feel EQ2 Sucks"

Example 2:   "I don't drink but If I did Eq2 would still suck (in my opinion).

Example 3:   "What does my drinking have to do with my opinion of EQ2 (which happens to be that it sucks)?

I've been playing EQ2 since August 2005. My main is a 70 Templar, and I have 4 alts. Since I started playing, the game has been radically overhauled several times. The latest expansion Echoes of Faydwer really has changed the whole dynamic of the game. We now have 2 good cities with the inclusion of the Fae. We also have brand new zones and content for all players, levels 1 to 70.

The only downside to the latest expansion is if you happen to prefer playing an evil character. The EoF expansion really doesn't cater for evil players, except for the new zones. This will be addressed in a new expansion due sometime in 2007, that (rumour has it) will feature a new evil city, to readdress the balance.

Oh, and you cannot betray a Fae character to evil Freeport. Not yet at least. It seems SOE were a little worried at the volume of people wishing to make evil Fae characters (FAE SHADOWKNIGHTS FTW!). So in they're infinite wisdom, they decided to exclude Fae's from the betrayal system for now.

Other than that EQ2 is a top notch game. I'm not gonna compare it to other games. I'm not gonna state the glaringly obvious and say that you really can't get a full impression of the game from a 7 day trial. But if you really wanna say how crap EQ2 is, with only a trial to base your opinions on, then so be it.

    But your wrong!

Thinking about trying the 7 day Trial

    I am a EVE-online and a WOW player i like both games.

since the new patch of WOW and the new PVP system  i decided to try another game.

I tried  The Saga of Ryzom  good game.  The trial part of the game was awesome since they uncapped the level and allow you to go higher then level 20.

During the trial version they was going through some take over of the game.  Anyway i couldn't wait to get to the mainland and then try the range weapons out, also to get an apartment and a pack animal also a mount.

Ryzom. it is too big and I  needed someone to hold my hand to guild me from area to area. there are no roads no signs as to which way to go. there map didn't help me..

The range weapons was a  disapointment.  and who wants a pack animal and the apartment  gee.

I rembered the first time I played everquest  that is the Orginal.

Same thing to big.   when you died it took you forever to find your body.

I still thinking about downloading the Trial version of EverQuest II.  Just i rembered the bad and i just can't help to think that they have not changed that much of it.

Oh and EVE-ONline  is a space game (Very Huge World of STARS) so there are no roads.  But i can go anywhere i want and go back to where i started from without asking for help or where am I?

Oh and i heard from you Everquest Players that WOW is a simple game and that it is easy.

Okay you might be right,  Easy is what i like!!!!!

I do not like the idea of spending 4 hours looking for my body.  If i die in WOW  i can find where i died very easy.  If i die in EVE-online no problem.  I don''t have to hunt for my body. cause where i am is my body (pod) hehe just get a ship

There are no corpse runs in eq2.  There is exp debt, and equip damage.

I'm not to fond of SOE myself, but I have to admit this game has come a hell of a long way.  I tried the trial, but unfortunately work kept me from being able to reap the full benefits.  I've considered making another trial account and playing a bit more before I decide to fork out the cash.  Another problem, is I really don't know if I have the time for MMO's anymore.  It would be hard for me to get involved with a guild and be as big a part as I would like.

Anyway,  mainly wanted to say how much it had improved.  So if any of you folks are hesitant from way back in beta, this actually is a fairly fun game now.  I don't know about it's lasting appeal, but I guess no one can really tell ya that.

I am open to all opinions and godpuppet has his. I know nothing about his post in the past never read any. If he hates the game so much and has no other agenda regarding SoE. why is he wasting his (or her) time in the forums of a game they think sucks? I hate RYL terrible game and I have never posted once in it's forums, why, because I hate the game, like godpuppet does with EQ2, so I do not want to waste my time there for any reason. Also I have not seen a reply as to why he thinks EQ2 sucks. Don't both telling me to read his old posts in other threads, I am in this one. The reason I say this is EQ2 does not suck. If you are an mmo player and have tried as many games as most of us have you know this. You may not like EQ2 but to say it sucks is silly. I do not like WoW I do not play it anymore but it does not suck.  I do not like RYL and it sucks and most here would agree. It sucks because it is a poorly designed game. No matter what some say EQ2 is an amazing and polished game. Some may not like it but to say it sucks simply is not true. (let's not start a debate on the definition of "sucks")

It would be easy to write pages on EQ2 how deep it is and great looking. I will not mention all the mmo I have played and beta'd. I have a decade of mmo experience. I have played all the game listed on mmorpg.com's top ten list. EQ2 is great for the following: 1) Best graphic out (but you better have the system, steep requirments) 2) sound is fantastic and uses 3d effect extremely well 3) smart deep storyline to follow 4) interesting content for all gameplay styles (solo, small group, raids)  5) Crafting (I hate crafting but EQ2 does it well and I even do some) 6) Fun quest 7) player housing and collectibles for them 8) many different styles of horse mounts and flying carpets 9) amazing enviroments to explore, great fun dungeons, water enviroments you actually fight, explore and swim in 10) one of the best mature players bases in any mmo. There are many, many more reasons whyEQ2 does not suck. EQ2 many not be the game for everyone but even if you do not like it, it simply does not suck.

I can't speak for anyone else, but there could be a number of reasons.  Some people argue just to create conflict.  Others may think that they have the pinnacle of all opinions and think that your privileged to hear it.  I think most people just feel strongly about something and must say it and promote the discussion.  Offering an opposing point of view promotes discussion.  But the opposing view needs to have a point, and for some reason this is missing sometimes.   Perhaps it's depression or something.

I have heard that people who hate to admit that they like something, will often downplay it all the time because they are embarassed about it.

The reality is though that if you have not played it after the changes over the past year, then you don't know what your talking about, so /ignore would seem to be in order.

I have every reason to hate eq2............ it took 33 hours to download and update with trial version so I can play. And after all that I was pleasantly surprized. Fantasy game the way it was meant to be.

I played EVE (great as well), WoW (still playing, love to hate it), Vanguard beta for a short time (Oh Vanguard where art though  ) and a few other mmo wana-bees. What I dont get is how can SoE accept Vanguard in it's current form when they have eq2. In my opinion go with eq2, I know I will if things dont work out with the other games soon.
