ffs, they dont need you to send anything back to nintendo at all, if youre interested in obtaining a stronger strap then you just apply for it and its totally free. You dont need to spend on anything, why do you call it a flop??? I call it proper customer service idiots.

Now, how about the issues about the xbox 360's overheating adapters, did microsoft even bother to replace them? hell no.. so stfu u farkin wanks, fanboys are the worst people in this planet.

Hell yes. Basically what I said, but yours is a much more aggressive version, I like that.

Actually, my buddy looked up the system specs of the Wii. That's what I think is going to make it crash. They are..... incredibly sub-standard.

Only a portion of gamers actually give a toss about specs, the Wii is not aimed at them so nintendo probably couldn't care less whether they pick it up. Besides the DS is inferior to the PSP when comparing raw specs and it seems to be doing just fine. Nintendo manages to include 'fun' in the wii, people want it because it looks fun.

Hohbein took the words out of my mouth.  I'll be getting one after the hype has settled and they are more readily available.

I was just wondering though, I haven't seen anyone play the console in person, so this may not apply.  If the remote usage is a matter movements, why can't it be strapped onto the forearm?  Or are there buttons on it which may need to be pressed while moving it around?

I figured if it was strapped onto the forearm, making a fist with your hand would keep it from sliding off.

I plan on buying a Wii too. Never though about puchasing a PS3. Still like other posters here I'm waiting until the initial rush dies down and the kinks all worked out. If anything posters who have played any MMO at launch should understand this philosophy.

OOOO the strap is defective.. BIG DEAL.. GET A BETTER GRIP ON YOUR CONTROLLER!

atleast the console works unlike the ps3.

I got one of the million or so defective ps3's...  just blinks
lights at me and doesn't turn on.  Sony has a waiting list of
people with defective consoles that they estimated mine will be coming
    mid to late January.

    Screw sony..

Sony's NON-WORKING CONSOLE is a worse problem than a remote strap coming undone.

I agree with everything you said up until the part about microsoft not replacing adapters. I got my xbox 360 before christmas and it was a christmas present, and i wanted to make sure my adapter wasnt defective. So I called up Microsoft and they replaced my adapter with a guarrenteed ones that works fine. So, your last statement is wrong.

So Microsoft will give you an adapter, but won't replace the one that came defective when it actually breaks.  Sorry but that's not good customer service, that's chincy customer service.  Good short term business practice, but the more crap like that they pull, the more harshly people will view them.  It's not as though Nintendo is under any obligation to replace the TV's of the people who idiotically heaved their remotes either...they aren't responsible for people misusing their product, it's much different from an overheating adapter.

Your argument is like a two legged dog with an eating disorder...weak and unbalanced.

Agreed. Since some people still don't know what a gimmick is, I'll give another description of recall.

Recall: Also called callback. a summons by a manufacturer or other agency for the return of goods or a product already shipped to market or sold to consumers but discovered to be defective, contaminated, unsafe, or the like.

My car had a recall, the starter could burst into flames. The laptop batteries for practically every company were a recall, they could electrocute, burn, then burst into flames. Those both are not available for sale until it's fixed. This is a voluntary exchange. If I went and bought a Wii right now it would still have the old strap.

Although I think if you need to exchange because you can't handle the difficult concept of "don't swing with all your might and hang on to the damn thing" you should also get a helmet with your exchange too.

Woo the Wii has a strap flaut, it'll cash and burn!! Lets forget that Nintendo have been going what 20 years-ish, they along with Sega practically founded the console empire, Nintendo has had falied consoles and one that can be classed as sub-par and YET they still keep going, and lets us forget the fact that your say to anyone Mario/Metriod/Zelda/DK in fact anything done by Nintendo and they know what it is..

These 'Wii failed' posts can be for the following reasons:

    1) Wii isn't a glorified PC: The PS and certainlly Xbox try heavly to lure people in with 'added fetures'.. 'It can play DVDs' and? I have a DVD player, 'It can play MP3s' again I have a mp3 player and it's damn sight more poadle then lugging a Xbox with you and in the case of the 360 'You can watch TV', yea.. you really want me to pay extra for somthing I already have geez.... Problem is people DO fall for this, one of my friends told me 'it's good as you buy a console and get all that for free', true, but you BUY a console to play games, all this extra stuff just defeats the point of the console, it the end you might as well buy a PC, it does basically the same and more...The only thing 'added' which can be considered a good step for consoles is download content and games, Xbox does this well however the Wii really sines with it's own content of 5 formats, incluing the Cube the Wii is basically 7 different consoles..

    2) The Wii isn't fast/powerful/pritty: Yea true the Wii isn't 'top of the line' in power or grafical wise however Nintendo havn't chosen to use the 'lastest' and ungarented technology (ie Blu Ray(sp?)), basically limited the techical faluts (like someone said Wii's promlems are tame compeared) and making the console itself cheaper to build and sell, who needs pritty when the games are still good quality?

    3) The Wiimote: Basically this is the 'failed' part of the Wii, it's not the 'classical' push button for action, it actally involes action for action, as a post said before the rollback 'I don't like the Wii cuz after 3 hours my arm got tired' in which my personal reply was at least when you complete a task on the Wii it's damn sight more rewarding, just sitting there pressing a button to do somthing isn't exactaly skillful, but when you have to actally aim at things to shoot or wave the wiimote to swing a sword yea it's tiring BUT at least you feel like you doing somthing other then just sitting there. Lets be honist here the 'button' control thing it's been done for the past 20 years, Wii is somthing new and it scaires the hell outa people. My same friend from before stated 'I don't really want to come home from work and site down to game and wave my arms in the air', from the ads the Wii 'requires' big movements, it's a huge misconsepion, it certainly doesn't require me to clear a 4 foot space around the room to play the Wii I can quite happy sit at my desk and play the Wii right next to me, small movements are required nothing else..

Lets face it without Nintendo all these 'Sony/Mircosoft Rocks Nintendo Suxzorz' fanbois wouldn't even have a console to be a fanboi for, I myself think the consoles are alright, but after 20 years of good gaming Nintendo will always be around and no matter how much people think the Wii has 'failed' theres always countless people to say it hasn't..

    Bring on the WARRRRGGHH!

mmmmm i should keep my strings in some glass container then.... since they will very soon be the "limited TV piercing edition" and sell them in 2 years on Ebay for a load of $$$ lol image

Oh and i m a PSP owner and it is a gimmick, the UMD are the most ununiversal universal disk i have ever see, as for listening to mp3 on this big thing, it's a joke, the games are same as all other consoles, they are ports or bad try to be original using old licenses games... If i knew what i do now i would never have bought it... worst waste of money ever.

I also think it's funny of all the PS3 problems that they have had.  Just goes to show that both Sony and Nintendo sent out their products (as did Microsoft last year) with problems.  I have played all formats over the years, Nintendo, Playstation, Sega, Xbox, Atari,  PC.  I've never said in any of my posts, including this one that Nintendo is going to fail.  Some of you morons are insinuating I am.  In fact I think that the Revolution(Wii is the stupidest name EVER) is going to come out in 2nd in the long run.  I stick with my stand that the control scheme is a gimmick by Nintendo.  They knew the only way to differentiate themselves from Microsoft and Sony is to do something new.  People who are not fanbois of Nintendo are not going to be running out and buying this product.  Please, do you really think you 60 year old gramma is going to want one?  After the not so stellar sucess of the gamecube, Nintendo had to do something different.  And they did and I do commend them for taking that chance.  I however will not buy one as I know it will sit there collecting dust as I prefer games like Gears of War or Call of Duty to games like Mario and Zelda.

They probably didn't do that because it would have been too similar to their old Power Glove and they wouldn't be able to get the "ooohhh ahhh" factor.

I like the consoles to some extent but theyre just too much for my pocket at the moment, I'ld rather spend the money on new PC parts. I wish they'd just come up with drives and controllers that could be installed in a PC. Yes I know all the arguments about the consoles being better 128 bit etc but to me it's all just Sony Beta vs VCR and IBM PSII vs Apple, everyone wants total control (of your wallet) instead of working towards an industry standard everyone could afford. As long as there's a herd of lemmings willing to crush each other in a first day media frenzy to hand over their wallets they'll keep coming out with "new" *coughSAMEOLDCRAPINANEWPACKAGEcough* doodads and people will keep shoveling out their money for it.

The Wii is just... stupid.  I never would have thought that goofy thing would take off the way it has.  Nintendo has always been the oddball company in home gaming systems 0.o

  • SpathotanSpathotan Member Posts: 3,928
Nintendo has been shipping out the new straps with the controlers and Wii's since the beginning of the month. So if you have a controler that was shipped AFTER November 30th, it already has the new strap.

Just wanted to debunk that earlier statement. Also UMD is, infact, a gimmick. Myself being one of the many that have had to explain and post the actual defintion of "gimmick", I know what it is.

Do you also stick with belief that the earth is flat? By the very definition of the word Gimmick, the controller isn't.

I am sorry, but you, sir, are an idiot. You create your posts with the most obvious logical fallacies to back up your claims. I mean seriously, how can you justify your claims using anecdotal evidence? You can't. Of all your wide experiences with all the different systems its still not enough evidence for you to back up what you are saying.

And for the love of whatever you call a god, learn the definition of a gimmick. I agree that the Wii is "an ingenious or novel device" (actual definition), but somehow I don't think that was the definition you were trying to apply to it.

Bottom line is you created a thread trashing Nintendo, there was no other reason for your topic. You obviously do not like Nintendo for whatever reason. So please don't try to come off as some 33 year old mature intellectual when you are nothing more than a forum troll.

You may not like Mario or Zelda, but I sure as hell love them, so don't base Nintendo's success off of whether or not you like their games.
