LOL if you want to  play, get out your credit card, and buy Adena online, cause that's the only way you'll make it in this BOT infested, BOT controlled economy, BOTBOTBOTBOT!

But, if you decide to, make friends, join a HUGE clan, and hope they can help you, because it's late in the game, and you can NEVER make it solo.

The game has been out for 3 years and you played it 2 years ago. Somehow you think you're qualified to say how the game is?image

Sence i played for a year starting in the open bata I feel i am highly qualifide to say how the game is and was and have earned the right to voise my opinion and will honestly do so. This is america after all  we do have to right to free speach. if you dont like it i dont care. I have found that a lot of people in third world nations make a good liveing farming or bottig game money to sell on ebay naturally they want as many people in the game and on there server as as posible to sell money to it dosent matter if the game is worth playing or not just come on in and buy some adeana image

When you played there was no,

    1. way to upgrade your weapon and armor by paying the difference
    2. manor system
    3. seven signs
    4. had a completely different pvp system
    5. no way to reduce your pk count

etc etc. So, yes, you are hardly qualified to say hwo the game is now. It's like saying you drove a model T ford 80 years ago and the car was slow so don't buy a ford b/c they are slow.

Thats true, it didnt. But it still has ksing, greefing, pking, training, no instances, over run with bots who will hold you out of areas, you pay to hunt in and a very hard and boreing grind in which i am very well aquanted with.
And on which i am focusing my posts. therefore i am very quilifide to post on those probulems unless you can honestly say lineage 2 has changed all of those too inwhich i would know you were lieing. As i said earler sence i played a year i have earned the right to voice my opinion. Whether or not you want to hear it is another story in which i dont care one way or the other about. If you dont want to read my post then dont read it. This websight isant for just you its for the general public  to voice there oppinion in which i am doing along with thousands of other people just like me. When lineage 2 finally gets smart enough to put up pve servers to go along with there pvp, servers and they get rid of the bots, and program out the ability to ks, and to train players like some of the much better games at least on the pve servers ,I will finally shut up as i wll know then that this game has finally becoume a game worth playing but i dont ever see that happening i dont think nc soft and lineage 2 devs are smart enough to do that

Or you can just use your head!

(This wasn't ment as a flame, it was suppose to be another thing you could do without having to do what you mentioned, because your idea isn't wrong either...but both will work...)

The grind is boring to some people only. I have friends that hate PvP...and pretty much I say "They why the hell do you play L2?" They say "Cause it is fun and I like the world and the mobs." Then I am like, "Are you brain dead?" And they go, "Well your the one playing it and acting like you don't like it." So yea, some people actually enjoy the grind that is L2... image

Actually people that ebay usually only do so so they can get top gear. This ruins it for others though. The way the economy is suppose to work (and did work in the beginning) is you get low grade and work your way to top grade before you switch again to the next grade. Actually playing like this was fine. I was probally one of the only mages that would run around in cursed robes till lvl 35 before getting knowledge robes... Got my knowledge robes by traded the cursed robes (could be crystalized) for some knowledge robe set and a bit of adena...

Actually being in a clan is super fun (SOMETIMES, lol) because you can grind with some people and just explore some new areas while killing some mobs, not staying in one spot the whole time... You can talk with them on Ventrilo or Team Speak or whatever about game and non-game related things. You can do what you want!

Basically you don't have to cheat to have fun, but you do have to cheat to reach end game fast! Granted now lvl 1-20 is probally a very lonely road, but when I played I would say that was probally my most fun times. image

This game is for the patient, and those that don't require instant satisfaction. Those that like the feeling of working towards something. This isn't a game where you are like W00T I made a level, this is a game where you are like W00T I made 5%... This is a game where you say your gonna quit when you fail your A grade helm craft (I said that, lol) but then you and your clannies go out and do the ToI quest again, get the recipie again, try to find some mats, and craft it all over again.

Basically this isn't a game for eveyone. It is marketed by NCsoft as a game for the "hardcore" not for "everyone" so the best advice I can give you is to try it. Don't take the game so seriously, because in the end it is just a game. If you think that you gave it a good try and you hate it and there is nothing you like in it, the quit... It isn't like it is that big of a deal.

Imho no instances is a plus! So is open PvP...

But I guess that is why I play L2.

The rift, and the soon to be dino island thing is going to be enough instance for me...

Indeed, instances don't belong in l2. They need to focus about pvp, instances makes people flee from pvp. People should, besides the cities, never have a spot to flee from pvp.

    Hey,

i have similar dilemma as orginal poster except im coming from Anarchy Online which is first and only mmo i'v played.

Been eyeballing for a new game i might enjoy and found plenty of information about Lineage 2 thru these forums. (thx for that image )

Anyways, if any of you have played AO i would wery much appreciate some
sort of perspective about what i'd be getting in to, and ofcourse the
much spoken level grind of Lineage 2 compared to AO.

I did most of the grinds in AO apart from faction and everyone being
billioneers from farming ingots, 1 man alien city's and 220's killing
all dynas screwed up economy or spending time for your money/gear is
    not entirely unheard of image

    Thank you in advance,

    - Grinding is around big time. With everything. Farming SP, adena or xp.  (In other words grinding 200-220 on hecklers will seem like a cake walk)

    - PvP is around big time. I walk around Devianne and think we have a mature and fun server. PK-ers walk around with their fame but it's not that bad. You will need a guild to get everything out of this game.

    - Only red named players have a chance for dropping their stuff, otherwise you cant drop a thing. Some call this a good thing, some call it a bad thing. As a player it's a good thing, it removes griefing from the game (It's bad enough to get trained on purpose, it's worse when you loose a piece of armor you worked weeks for)

    Asko,

I only played AO for a very short time so I don't have a very good comparison for the economy. AO is built pretty much on the same design ideas as L2, grind is good. AO just had laser guns. (it was much better then SWG however) If I had played this game years ago when it was still a bit fresh I might have gotten into it.  I'm a graphics whore sometimes so AO was just to dated looking for me when I tried it last year.

L2 has a very tough economy. Really the ONLY thing that makes it hard is the fact that the game uses a "shop" system meaning that you need to leave your character logged on to sell. Thats the big downfall. The person who opts to leave his PC running wins at the economy. If you don't mind doing this and have 3 or 4 working braincells, you will be able to make money in L2.

The game more or less addresses any money issues in the form or the "manor system" and the "Seven Signs" quest. People who boo hoo the economy either never tried/never played/don't understand or just don't have any patience.

The key to the game is guilds. If you are anti-social, want to lone wolf, you won't make it far. Its a Guild vs Guild game. The world revolves around the resulting politics. If you don't like the sound of that, L2 isn't for you.

If you can filter through all the negitive BS that some of these knotheads leave (myself included) and still think it sounds like a good game, its probably worth a try.

Lineage 2 is a very good game, iv also been considering giving it another go aswell.

Lineage 2 is like an orgasm, it takes time to hit your goals, it feels great when you do, but after, you are left knowing it will be a while before you hit another.

I guess the only downside is the botters which are unacceptable, still if you dont let them ruin your game then there is no reason why you wont enjoy this game.

Which is a blessing...i dont want the whole WoW community to think that they should join L2....most of them would cry after a few hours that its to thouygh for them then go to the forums and scream around that the game is to difficult. Level 80 in Lineage 2 means something. Level 60 in WoW doesnt.

The economy is a lot more difficult than it seems. It takes a lot of time to actually make money in the game, in my opinion, it would take many weeks to be able to afford A grade at lvl 61. It takes awhile to buy low/sell high just to afford your gear. yes the manor system and seven signs system helps but it's a long trek.

    To answer adore's question.

The grind is probably why I quit the game along with the legit cheaters and botters, by legit, I means the one who swore to be legit but ebayed/botted. Anyway, the grind depends on the gear and character you choose.

If you ebay and grind, it'll go much faster than if you make money and grind. Pretty mcuh, to give you a perspective, you don't make money by grinding, you can lose money, so either you level a bit and make money like I did, which is fun and all, but i lost grinding time to make money.

So let's say, you ebay (like everyone) and then you just grind. I'll show you roughly how quickly a medium character can level up.  including having a 2nd account with a buff character to buff and heal you to make thing g o faster lol.

Medium char (with ebay and using buff pots and such
You can probably hit lvl 20 in about 8-12 hours of grinding with top gear at your level
you can hit 20-40 in about 30-40 hours
At lvl 40-43 you may do each level in about 2-3 hours
lvl 44-46 each level may be 3-4 hours
    lvl 47-49 4 hours
    49 - 52 4-5 hours
    52-55 5-6 hours
    55-60 = 6-7 hours
    60-61 = 8 hours

Essentially, by lvl 69, I was only getting 3-4% per hour so lvl 69-70 took me like 25-30 hours.

I may level up slowly in relation to other, but the grind is insane in my opinion. I'm only talking about playing via ebaying too. If you';re gonna play legit, the grind is 2-fold. Making money takes a crap load of time and is a grind in itself and leveling is a grind.

It's easy to get into a decent guild, so i wouldn't worry about that. Just hit lvl 40 and you'll be on your way into a decent clan.

Also to give you an idea of how expensive ebaying can get in Lineage 2. On some servers, 1 million adena = 1$.

Top A grade armor (not weapon) runs you 100+million.

I may have some excess adena that I can get rid of at 90 cents per 1 million adena, but then again, selling on ebay is wrong.

Enjoy the game, I just can't get back into it, i can't see myself sit there for 30 hours to grind to hit lvl 71 and then have to put 30-40 horus of grinding to hit lvl 72 and for what blah.

I got a lvl 70 gladiator that i leveled up and earned roughly 500m in cash in like 5 months of playing, on average, 40 hours a week. Friggin waste of time, then again i'm not in hte mood to play MMO's.

Yeah, I got that one coming to me. They're not that bad and in reality, in C5 they are actually very good and at lvl 78 they are over-powered I hear. The character was fun, the grind was not :). I'm butthurt, because i put too much into the game for a shitty reward.
