Firstly, welcome to this forum. Can I please take this chance to invite you to refrain from using capitals at the beginning of each word. For more information on capitals, please visit this website, or your local primary school.
Now, down to this new 'MMORPG' you are developing. Could you please elaborate on what work needs to be done? Does this 'coder' need experience with certain technologies you may be using, for example are you going to be using DirectX or OpenGL? Do you have a game engine?
What else would this 'coder' be doing? There are many forms of programming within the game industry, such as:
a Graphics Programmer
a Tools Programmer
a Web Developer
a Gameplay Programmer
a Physics Programmer
There are many more, so do feel free to edit, or reply in this thread so that this idea of your's see's the light of day.

The entire MMO is coded using all recursion and no loops.
Originally posted by Apocalyptica You are coding a mmorpg in VB?!? Why that? And tbh, by saying you want another coder because you are lazy...erm.... 'nuff said.
Wrong. Lazy people make the best programmers. They are incentivized to get something else (the computer) to do the work.
Originally posted by SnaKey Originally posted by gestalt11 The entire MMO is coded using all recursion and no loops.
lol
Is that even possible?
Theoretically, yes, as loops and recursion are interchangable. But for some things you will most likely cause a stack overflow and should use loops. Other problems, like the classic Towers of Hanoi, are doable either way but much more efficent when done as recursion.
Another 14 year old mmorpg developer eh? I find it hard to believe you can design any mmorpg when you can't even spell 'creator' right. It's C-R-E-A-T-O-R... not Creater. Jesus M. F. Christ... kids these days can't even spell a simple word right. Go back to elementary school and learn how to spell first.

While I tend to agree with you on the quality of spelling, is it truly necessary to go out of your way to be rude? I'll answer that for you. No.
Another forum poster who has to vent their frustrations unnecessarily and effectively bring their own unhappiness to everyone who reads, eh?

'Say it, don't spray' as the quote goes.
It's frustrating that you get to see posts about new upcoming mmorpg in development every week to find out that they are nothing more than posts written by 14 year old kids who has too much time on their hands. I would gladly support any serious independent developer looking to make his/her own game but not someone who is in it as a joke of some sort.
Ok listen im looking seriously for a coder since you said you would gladly support anybody who isnt "in it for a joke" i may be 14 but does that make a difference to how i set out and develop my game im totaly commited to this project no matter how long and i just wanted to know if somebody who has done this ie "helped make a game" before if they wanted to earn quite alot of money by helping me create Vinasty
And i Can spell creator i just type quicker than i think witch is a problem
If u are Willing to help me and not just crush the whole concept then reply back saying "il help you my email adress is [email protected] email me disscusing hat you want doing and the pay so we can talk"
Read those for 10yrs. When you're 24, repost your thread.

Oh well isn't that handy! Which engine would this be?

And you failed again to mentioned what kind of "coder" you are looking for. What kind of game engine are you gonna use? Are you thinking of getting someone to develop a new engine from the ground up? And lastly do you have at least 3 million dollars since it pretty much cost that much to develop a commercially viable professional quality modern game these days. John Smedley mentioned that it cost them 3 million dollars to develop Everquest and that was back in 1996. If you don't have that kind of money well you can always use Realmcrafter as a game engine. Only $65 bucks! Or you can go for the Unreal 2.0 engine which only cost US$350,000 (according to my sources) per license per game. If you are going for cutting edge technology there's the Unreal 3.x engine for tomorrow's games.

One thing that will help you as a 'coder' (or a team leader which from what you are saying is what you are primarily leaning towards) is an air of professionalism. Even if your concepts of an MMO don't pan out (this time around) if you promote professionalism, more folks will pay attention.
First, one thing that you need to do for sure is use a spell checker. Make your posts in a word processor, run spell check then post. Second, never tell folks 'I'm lazy'. That just tells people you don't care enough to shoulder your part of the burden, even its morale and support as a Project Leader. Third, know what you need. Do some research. It's all well and good to want to do something, but if you know what you will need to accomplish the goal then you can find help more effectively. That's the planning part.
It should be noted that just because you are 14 doesn't mean you can't make an MMO as someone said. You just have to plan it (or any large project) out more before you jump in with both feet.
