Lineage 2 eh?

I heard a lot of games are based off of this one.

What's the monthly cost and is it better than WoW? If so, in what way?

Well, it's about $15 per month

I know a lot of people on this forum might say it is better than WoW but only becuase L2's gameplay elements appeal to them more than what WoW has to offer.

This is not the same as WoW.

WoW is designed more for casual players. many who might be first time entrants to online games.

L2 has a harder grind, harder economy, completely open PvP. You will come to rely more on your clan or alliance as the game is the politics of the players. The end game is more centered aroudn PvP and clan wars.

I personally prefer the art style of L2 over WoW but it also seems to have more lag.

Quite frankly, and to reiterate, it's just a different game.

Raiding is not L2's main focus, clan politics are.

Lots of Korean Style MMOs are based off of this game. Meaning the grind mechanics, and trying to copy the beutiful L2 artwork. Most fail, but you can definately see the attempt they tried to make.

This was the #1 MMO in the world before WoW. Then, as everyone knows, WoW became #1 and L2 slipped into Second Place! Where it still sits, sometimes only being beaten by subscription numbers of its predecesor Lineage 1.

Is it a better game than WoW? Depends what you are looking for!

For me, no graphics, esspecially for MMOs compair to L2. This is probally the strongest point of this game.

PvP! This isn't consentual pvp! This is Open PvP, that means something in the end. Usually dealing with Politics, Fight for Hunting spots, and of course castle seiges.

This is more hardcore (time consuming?) than WoW! Be prepaired to be patient while you grind to high level and power.

I played WoW, but played L2 first. I couldn't stay with WoW. I like art, and I like the idea of a seamless open world! And L2 offers me all of it, except maybe for a bit more casual atmosphere! I am not what you would call "hardcore" but I do love this game!

Anyway, give it a try! You may be suprised...

This statement is false. They are roughly the same. I spend 1000 hours in WoW or 1000 hours in L2 in the same time period they are both "hardcore"

Like I said before, if you focus on PVE only, WOW is more time consuming than Lineage 2. Lineage 2 you log in for an hour or 2, you party, that's it. No one is going to kill you if you cannot stay for 3-5 hours in a raid. In WoW you gotta stay or the idiotic leader will - DKP your ass, kick you out of the guild, or whatever. Yes, you HAVE TO RAID. Spit out your reroll arguement, goes to show you how horrible WoW 60+ Raiding is. In WoW when you hit 60 you are effed if you do not raid.

If you put the PVP aspect up, yes they are both really really time consuming. Seiges might last the whole god damn day, but at least that's only 2 days out of .. 14. Lineage 2 leaders do not kick out members for the hell of it, that's the difference between WoW and L2, leaders actually have a very close relationship with their members because the entire clan has to go through pure hell to stick it out and last.

Actually no! If you just logged into L2 to grind for 2 hours at lvl 74 or something, you would be lucky even if you made 1 or 2%. Esspecially if you have to go get a group going, that usually takes a good 20-30 minutes until eveyone is finally ready to go! Sure I log in for an hour or two, but usually that is looking around town at the market and chatting with some peeps.

The time taken to reach lvl 80 compaired to WoW's lvl 60 cap is retardedly different. I could lvl one WoW character all the way to 60 in the same amount of time it takes me to get from 74-75. Lots of people, belive it or not, play MMORPGs to reach level cap.

Sure in WoW you have to constaintly raid to get epic gear or whatever, so you can smash people in pvp. But the point is that epic gear is probally just as hard to get in L2 as A grade (not even to grade gear) if you did it legitly. You have to go get the recipies threw a retarded ass quest collecting levels upon levels of these blue prints that drop 1 outa 30 mobs or something. Plus you may not get the ones you want. You need like 100 Black Papyrus to get all of the ToI blueprints to have a possibility to turn them in and get your recipie.

WoW has interesting quests, that ease the grind! L2 doesn't! Blizzard is like, "oh we got rid of the grind for causual players." NCsoft is like "Are you ready to play the most hardcore MMO PvP game out there, where there is betrayal and if you are patient and witty enough can make it to the top by outsmarting the others." One of those statements is for Casual one is for Hardcore. You can play both game both ways. You can play WoW hardcore or Causual. You can play L2 Hardcore or Casual. But WoW was designed to help casual players more, and L2 was designed to help hardcore players more. Making L2 a hardcore players paradise.

Also the whole PvP system of L2, loosing exp, items, etc. Is hardcore! There is no running back to your body! The only running your gonna be doing in L2 is to run to kill the guy that just killed you, or to run so you don't get killed again.

You may spend 1000 hours in WoW, but in WoW you would probally have gotten hundreds of items, a level capped character. Good or even great gear! Etc Etc! In L2 you may finally have gotten you B grade gear, hit lvl 70, got a bit of adena. There is a difference in a game Being hardcore and Playing Hardcore. The difference is called a Hardcore game, and a Hardcore player! Many people get this confused.

And about the clan leader thing! Yea thats because there are usually more immature players in WoW. Ppl in L2 are usually a bit older (not always) and realize that L2 is a game and RL should come first such as a job, in order to live. Plus since every clan member get ties to the clan leader and everyone in there, it is more of a friendship.

An example, someone left our clan cause they were pissed over something! They joined another clan! 2 weeks later they are back in our clan. The reason saying, "I have been with you guys since day one, it was too odd not having you all around."
