Greetings all!

After reading a lot of glowing reports on this game, I thought I'd give it a try. I'm dling it right now and can't wait to see what it's all about.

Got any tips for newbie? If so, I certainly welcome them.

Looking forward to meeting lots of fun people to play with!

not much tips necessary - the community is great, so if u are stuck u just ask in the general chat and surely some1 will answer. almost like guild chat!

Welcome. :) I hope you enjoy Ryzom.

    Tips:
    - Don't worry about which server to join. There are only three, and they each represent a language. Arispotle is English, Aniro is French, and Leanon is German.

    - Don't worry about "gimping" your character or having to reroll later. You can't recover used Skill Points, but that's alright because you can always get more. So experimenting with buying actions, stanzas, etc. that might not be the most useful is okay. Eventually, you'll have more SP than you know what to do with.

    - Do the "quests" from the NPCs (like Sterga Hamla for crafting). These are essentially tutorials that will help you learn the ropes and a bit of lore in the process. However, note that the missions/"quests" on the mainland are not like that. On the mainland, the game will not hold your hand, and the missions are very simplistic "kill X of X," "deliver X to X," "go to X location," etc. That is because the missions are not intended to be uber epic or anything - they're just tasks/jobs for fame and dappers (money). :) The story is given and advanced mainly via live events. Hence the Saga of Ryzom. Also, mainland missions will not reward you with items and exp. The island missions only do that to help players get started and progress. Anyway, that note was probably irrelevant since you won't be on the mainland during the trial, but it's just to let you know not to expect a quest-based game.

    - Don't hesitate to ask questions when you need to, in Region or Universe chat channels. Many players are very willing and happy to help new players. But remember to do your own exploring and investigating first.

I just downloaded it from the site. I just now tried to start the game, but it's not working for me. I keep getting a *client ryzom-something-or-other isn't responding and needs to close error*... Hrmm..
