Waiting for the Expansion

Alrighty, here's my little story:

I left World of Warcraft.. not once, not twice, but thrice and I keep coming back (left = hit the "cancel" button). The first time I joined I was in a dang good guild with a ton of members who did raids, dungeons, ect. all the bit, and we fully "epic'd" out our characters by farming MC. Then the leader died (in RL o.O) and the guild simply fell apart (Burnished Crest on the server Spirestone), or at least, that's what I was told, maybe the leader quit for the heck of it -_-.

Anyway, I left after the guild died, and two months later I rejoined. Just to make things worse for myself, I felt so bad about my guild falling and the leader leaving, I deleted all my characters (two 60s and a 58 amongst lvl 35 grind-puppets). I come back with nothing, well, that's not so bad, I'll just grind up and do it again. Made it to 58 this time with a Dwarf hunter (took me 2 months of casual play) on Spirestone and ran out of steam... mainly due to the lack of a good guild. So I left, but my character remained (I don't make the same mistake twice, unless you count WoW as a mistake).

Well, I rejoined again recently because of sheer boredom and need of a hobby besides origami and ceramics. I left again after An'qiraj was added to avoid the noob rush.

Talk about a major case of ADD, eh? Well, I'm thinking about coming back yet again when the expansion is released. Any suggestions for or against this action?

On the subject of waiting for things, which new upcomming or current MMORPG do you think has the best options for a casual player looking for a good alternative to combat? Like a decent crafting that means something to the economy.

I totaly agree, i have a hunch the expansion will be great. Flying mounts new dungeos, and a new pvp BG and heaps more. Bloodelvs and Dranior, plus the upcoming patch, linked realm BGs will shortain Quee times 10fold the wait allmost be instint. I have a lvl 60 undead rouge, yes call me a bastard, but i enjoy ganking lowbies. I simpley wait of the dock of booty bay and when helpless allies come on a kill them all, do this about 20times then im done  I wonder why people dont like me.

i've read that horizons was bought out... if they do some *good* changes, that game could be fun.  it's sort of like crafting in the old swg - you can craft everything, including your houses/castles/forts/whatever.

saga of ryzom is one with good crafting as well.  nice graphics in this game.  housing is limited to a (currently) non-customizable apartment, which is pretty much like a big bank box for you to store things atm.

uo, if you can deal with the graphics.  it's always had good crafting and has tons more than it did just a few years back.

could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?

I have the same problem. I keep comming back to WoW. I try to cancel, buy another game, but then realise the rediculous low quality of todays other MMORPG's and just go back to WoW.

what is it about saga of ryzom you don't like?   is it that they mix science and magic?  or that it's more of a sandbox than a pre-scripted game (i.e. you have to go to dungeon X 50 times in order to get all the gear from there for everyone;  so you can go to dungeon Y and do the same thing so you can go to dungeon Z, and on and on).

ryzom has very nice graphics and an incredibly enthusiastically helpful player community.

The main drawback was that the awfull long grind felt pointless to me. the PVP couldn't really entertain me at all.
true, WoW's pvp is pretty pointless as well, but I really enjoy the Battlegrounds and the actual pvp.

2nd is the skill system, as you probably remember of a previous post, I'm not a big fan of skill based games, I prefer level based.

I never thought 'now' I'd here someone saying they still enjoyed battlegrounds. Everyone including myself liked it for a week then we were like "Blah! I want World PvP back."

I have yet to figure out which system I like the best. Leveling is pretty classic, but skill based makes it more like you can round your character better I think. I still have no preferance to which one is best.

    Siehst du mich
    Erkennst du mich
    Ganz tief in meinem Herz
ist noch ein Platz f?r dich
    Ich suche dich
    Ich sehne mich
nach dem was ich geliebt hab
    doch ich find es nicht
