Although its a fake article, it is the kind of thing I wouldnt be surprised to see.
The Koreans are probably the people on this planet who are in most need of getting a life. They take their gaming FAR FAAAAAAAR too seriously, many of them cannot tell the difference between real life and a computer game, I fear many of them have or are developing serious psychological problems from withdrawing from real life into games so much.
The number of times I have read of players literally playing themselves to death in Korea is phenomenal, not to mention the serious crime that occurs because of their lack of grasp on reality. People have attacked, abused and even murdered over things that happen online in Korea...so much so that they have even setup a special branch of the police to deal with what has now become known as "offline pk'ing".
Imagine that...you attack someones character in a computer game, and the next day..they and 3 of their friends stab you to death in an alley because of it. Thats just one of the many things that has happened...scary to think that anyone could take just a computer game that seriously.
I think the main thing to remember is, It's just a game, in the end you can always log off if you annoyed. As for incidents your talking about i too have read articles about players who have died from playing game 24/7 and taking no breaks, something which you should all learn from. As for the offline pk'ing well thats taking it a bit too far, i personally this this is as a result of the money people can get from gaming, there is huge gaming industry there that supports paying people to play games, as soon as games come to effect real life more and more problems start to occur.

Well now thats damn annoying...I just wrote a huge response, with detailed korean police report information and cybercrime statistics...clicked post message and the damn thing vanished.
Ah well...I cant be bothered to type all that in again.
So, I will just say that I am not in the least bit surprised that the expression of a personal opinion on these boards is met with someone telling me to close my mouth.
Its my opinion formed by articles and police reports that I have read, it will remain my opinion, and I will most definately not close my mouth to the expression of my thoughts and opinions just because someone has told me to.
You are right, I have not been to Korea, so I can only base my opinions upon the written evidence presented to me (or verbal evidence in the case of recently broadcast Korean Cybercrime specials by the BBC), nor do I profess to be an expert on, or indeed 100% fully aware of every aspect of Korean life...much in the same way that although I spent some time in the US, I do not claim to know all about the US lifestyle.
So as I say, its my opinion. Thats about all there is to it. Bit annoying about my first reply disappearing with all the facts that have led me to these beliefs in it....sorry I couldnt be bothered to type it all up again.
It's not acctually real if anyone was confused about that... (and sorry to state the obvious for the rest of you).

It fooled me for a minute...or at least until I started using half of my wits. Girly man? Gover-nator? SC taught in school? hide in your bunker? Does that sound professional to you? If there IS going to be a war (rofl) then I'd think the media would start broadcasting it on all channels right about now... and, yes, what DOES Angelfire have to do with CNN? Anyway...good laugh

Hehe...well looking at the two mentioned there, I think I would rather lose my family/job due to a game than my life (assuming I was stupid enough to actually have to lose anything due to a game)
But you do hit the nail on the head there Piraiyah...I agree with you entirely...it shouldnt be like that if you realised a game is just a game.
Kekekeoreans will probly go bonkers over Lineage 2 than WoW. It's pretty apparent that asians in general seem tto be alot more obsessed with games than any American. As far as socio-economic reasons. South Koreans enjoy very good living conditions, and even if it was a poor country wouldn't it make sense they would get a real job instead of sitting at a net-cafe ? What is sad is that all that sitting doesn't make them good gamers. Every Korean guild i have seen in any mmorpg has absolutely 0 skills and relies on zergs in 10-1 odd raids. I would have to agree that asians are much better overall workers than any American but that's due to their ability to make work their life. This obviously backfires since it seems millions upon milliosn of them apply their gifts to sitting and playing lineage.

ya Koreans r too damn busy power leveling and farming Adena in Lineage/Lineage 2 to care about WoW... Koreans really dont seem to care too much about American MMORPGs

People dying because of games might be more common in asia than in the rest of the world, but also our living conditions are way different.
The reason their cybercrimes are higher is because they sit on internetcaf
