Im new to the boards and wanted to hear what ppl think about all the great titles coming out in the near future. Im currently looking for some new games to get into but cant decide on which ones. The three Im anticipating the most are :
1.Age of Conan
2. Gods and heroes
3. NWN2
Basically the reason I choose these 3 are due to the fact that they were given alot of praise on the webiste. I was wondering what other ppl had as their top choices and the reasons why they chose them. Thx

2. Vanguard- mmorpgs seem to have forgotten about dungeons, this will have them.
3. Darkfall- probably the most likely to be a letdown but I'm optimistic, a non level skill based system with some interesting ideas.
I agree with you on Vanguard, overall I think the game looks solid. Im kinda iffy on Warhammer. Even though Warhammer had one of the best opening trailers that Ive seen in a long time, I dont think it will stand up to the hype with pvp. Many other games before it stated how good the pvp would be but only a few actually lived up to it. Hopefully it will be a soild game in the end. My two sleeper picks that I think will do well are :
1. The pirates of the burning sea- basically the 1st of its kind for pirating.
2. Roma Victor- Alot to do, and unique professions
(1997) UO --> EQ -> Runescape -> DAoC -> WoW -> EVE + WAR (2008)
2: Archlord, will be my last old-generation mmorpg. Korean and Western gameplay combined
3: Lord of the rings Online , I have no idea what else to put here, and this one looks pretty fun.
1.) Lord of the Rings Online
2.) Age of Conan
3.) That James Cameron MMORPG with movie/TV show tie-in
-Aion. It may just be eye-candy,but if it offers decent PvP and the 'stunning' moves (literally) that the trailer showed,it may well be a decent MMO. Or at least some kind of better-looking L2 thing. As long as it has good PvP.
-Darkfall. Open-ended PvP. Nuff said. Aimed melee/ranged combat also attracting my attention. I feel though (despite beta being promised a 2006 release, apparently) it will take time and a lot of player input/criticism to succeed; it has a heavy hype burden upon it, never a good thing, but it helps to get it noticed on the flip side. Alpha trailers have impressed me also.
-WAR. Even if it's just an upgraded and better controlled version of DaoC,it's good enough for me. DaoC's PvP system appealed to me once, but in-game controls/graphical feel didn't. EA haven't been bad all the time, and with no past history of EA grudgery I don't care about the whole EA-Mythic thing. I mean,Mythic are as much a part as EA will be.
here is a gameplay trailer of Aion

I dare you to watch it and say:" I don't want to play that"
also, Archlord may be of the same publisher as RFO, Archlord will take a much more "relaxed" western aproach then the heavy grinding RFO. its also a game about guilds and politics, with over 2500 quests, so enough to keep you busy for a while
My most anticipated:
1. ArchLord
2. Aion
3. 9Dragons
1. Ragnarok Online 2
2. Age of Conan
3. Granado Espada
Although many might think I am crazy, here's my contribution to this thread. Overall, I am choosing these titles because I have enjoyed the mmorpgs from SOE in the past, and their upcoming titles look great. Even though it is not SOE who is responsible for making these good looking mmorpgs, they will be published by SOE and probably included in the Station Access Pass, a big plus for me.
1> Vanguard: Saga of Heroes (Sigil/SOE)
2> Gods and Heroes (Perpetual Entertainment/SOE)
3>DC Comics mmorpg (SOE?)
4> Fallen Earth (Icarus Studios)
I will also be looking closely at Lord of the Rings Online, but I am not getting my hopes up for it. I have been disappointed by the changes in direction since it's orginial development. I am following Archlord, but I don't think I can take another eastern style mmorpg, I just don't have the time for it. Tabula Rasa also looks good.
#1 Age of Conan: Mature MMO complete with fatalities and decapitation... based on the writings on REH, and featuring Cthulhu-esque monsters. PVP will be implemented from the ground up. Player age will be verified to ensure a mature audience. It's basically the anti-WOW.
#2 Hellgate: London: Another mature game, but the MMO aspect seems more like an afterthought. HGL will have random, Diablo-style items.
That's it.
Warhammer Online used to be my #1 until I heard about the teen rating, and then came the EA buyout. Really, the Teen rating was the final straw for me. The EA thing is just overkill. The Burning Crusade puts an exclamation point on the stuff that has already ruined WOW.

2. WAR( Not so sure now becuase of EA =/)
3. Age Of Conan( need i say more?)
Vanguard- Save the $oE announcement, I'm still looking forward to the epic scale adventuring that is being promised.
Roma Victor- bad graphics, but if the have what they are promising game play wise, this could be a great MMO.
-W.
I'm waiting onthe following
1) Hero's Journey ( although a bit skeptical as not as much info on the game is out as I would like)
2) Never Winter Nights 2 (If its only a slightly improved version of the first, it will still be great)
3) Aion (it just looks good, love the combat moves, worried that its totally combat focused and kill task centered, in other words, more of the same. Like all NCSoft games it will have "style"!)
Interested in
Conan - sounds good, not really grabbing me though, will more then likely give it a go.
Darkfall - these scope of the game is HUGE, doubtful they will pull it off but if they do.........
Pretty sure will crash and burn
Lord of the Rings - Its Turbine, what else do you need to say? Have they made a game yet that wasn't wrecked?
Anything SOE is involved in, look at the track record lol
SOE and Turbine have left a trail of smoking wreckage as they plow through the titles.
Vanguard - some old, some old.
Noticably missing
Many original Sci-Fi titles on the way, only a scant few No interest in Star Trek or Stargate marketing tie-ins looking to make money on the MMO community.
"My Fantasy is having two men at once...
One Cooking and One Cleaning!"

"A good man can make you feel sexy,
strong and able to take on the whole world...
oh sorry...that's wine...wine does that..."
that Aion game reminds me alot of RF online. Cool looking styles, pretty graphics. Alot of that trailer was a movie though, not taken from game footage. Also, in the actual in game footage the characters were just mowing through mobs that were obviously much lower level than they were. Are we going to see another grindfest where higher level characters come to the lowbie grounds because it is better to kill 20 low level monsters than 1 high level? Also, the female character was primarily a mage, but the male character used a sword, a staff, and a bow. Are there going to be limits? or is it like RFO where you grind every skill to the max?
I am 100% for skill based systems (if that's what this game is), but there has to be limits so every character can't be uber-solo-master.
Oh yeah, the movie didn't show any group action. No groups? No thanks
I dunno if i am really excited about any new MMO on the way. G&H looks nice and I trust that Funcom will take some chances with AoC. Those two get my votes.
Which FF Character Are You?
1) Vanguard. EQ went bad after Brad left and I hope that he will bring back a game that gives me such trills as old EQ had.
2) WAR. Played the RPG, played a little of the tabletop game read a lot of White Dwarfs (from back when it wasn't all about GW games only). Its a rich world where Im sure I could feel at home if its done right. And if its anything like DaoC plus a little extra it could be just it.
3) If the two above fails Im done with MMORPGS. Period!
Dunno anymore, there are so many that people hype up and when they come out not even a month later its "boooo this game sux" lol
I was waiting on STO but who knows.
