Yep, another new player...

Hey guys, i've been through a ton of mmos these past months, but i think i have finally found one. SoR! okay, so im downloading the client now... 41% yay! but i have a few questions.

First off - i've read a ton of posts about SoR, i've seen the screens, i've read the ratings and even read the clearly out-dated overveiw. Now, i've even gone to you tube and watching videos on SoR ( i do that with all my new MMOs, i highly sugest it. ) so now my questions are:

-how's the music

-can someone explain how many servers there are and how the work. ( i've seen ppl mention the "international server" or "German Server" ) 

-is the client im downloading right now the entire real game? i just have to subscribe to reach the rest? ( 1.6G sounds like a lot for a starter island, though it does sound like they really jazzed up the starter island to hook ppl )

-Finally, how does the SoR team do on updating it? Is Nevrax real active in a sence that they are always trying to help make your gaming experence better? ( Bliz does a great job with this.) [(old vet of WoW)]

I'm a n00b too, i dled the client last night and just talked to 1 npc before i hit the sack. I can answer ur question bout servers tho. You're given the choice of 3 servers, each for a diff language. As for the other stuff.. i hope to find out soon, gonna go play now.

There is almost no music ingame, but there are some very nice, immersive ambient sounds. There is also an ingame MP3 player so you can play your own music.

There are three servers, based on language:
Arispotle = English
Leanon = German
Aniro = French

The downloaded client is indeed the full version.

At the moment Nevrax is busy working on Ryzom Ring, a free expansion that will allow players to create their own scenarios, which could contain anything from a simple location to explore or hold an event in, to complex quest/dungeon-like content. Aside from the recently-introduced Ruins of Silan (starting island), updates are perhaps fewer and farther between than you might be accustomed to. But support/customer service is top-notch - a request for help ingame is usually responded to within 60 seconds by a GM. Email support usually within 15 minutes.

Music is sparse but very good. You can download it on the Mainpage, or on mine. Along with some nice Trailer Scores
The ambient sounds are realy great, it´s simply amazingly emersive to realy hear whats going on around you. To hear bees buzzing, Animals hooting and predators approaching. (This can be a livesaver). SoR uses the EAX System of "placed sound", so you may even hook it up to a 5.1 surround system .

Dang,all this hype and stuff makes me interested in downloading the Ryzom client now. I hope I will see quite a bit (in fact,most of the game's content) on the newbie isle in the free trial,and that I won't have to give any CC info until I am ready to pay.

I hate having to give out CC info on 'free trials'. DDO didn't do that,one plus for them but their game didn't captivate me either.

Don't need to give CC info for the trial nowadays   Also yes the new player island will give you a decent view of what Ryzom is like, from live events, to talking to the community on Universe chat to the AI system, graphics, sound and superb skill system.

Ok,this is quite possibly the most interesting MMO I've seen on first impressions for a LLLONG time. And the newbie isle is HUGE! This game looks complex,and when I discovered (to my joy) that the game has PvP.......hmmmmmm,this may be my new favourite.  First things first,a lesson in harvesting. And other stuff.
