Hmm, and WHY is it not open to us Europeans ?

 

How about someone does a competition that is NOT open to American/Canadians - I am sure there would be a MAJOR rucus about that.

Yeah, I figured a lot of people probably never heard of this. I figured I'd bring it up so they could see that someone, at some point, did try to make UO2.

I'm actually glad this never came out though, cause it didn't sound ANYTHING like original UO...I think it would have pissed off more people than it pleased.

I think the pvp in this would have been like, guild based arena crap or something.

They should make a UO2 now though, same features - better gfx and engine.

Don't forget about http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultima_Worlds_Online:_Origin - this was the REAL UO2 before EA pulled the plug back in 2001. I remember being sorely disappointed when the first one died, then not surprised at all when UXO found a similar fate a few years later since it was pretty clear that EA had no real concept of what the MMORPG market could bear. Interesting to note that UO2 included "Warriors from the Logos." IIRC, a lot of the concepts in development made their way into the early designs of Tabula Rasa. There are still some screenshots of UO2/UWOO up at pc.ign.com/objects/014/014803.html.

Hmm, well I hate people as a general rule and being self-employed does allow me considerable flexibility in my posting. So, I'd say both.

Heh, I don't think a UO2 game will succeed unless they make it skill based and sandboxy like the original. Otherwise I think they will just piss people off.

Agreed. If they'd just take basic UO ( no expansion crap ), and make it 3D, they'd have a winner.
