What do you think is the best invention of all time?

Rikimaru_XRikimaru_X Member UncommonPosts: 11,718

I really want to hear what you guys think is the best invention of all time. You can only choose your top three and please explain why. I will be choosing one at the moment.

personally, I think that the printer by Johann Gutenberg is the best invention of all time. Without the printer, information, ideas, learning, and education would drastically slow down. Books would be high priced, school cost would be terrible on books and that's bad. Think of how it would affect the future after 1450? Oblivion.

Ok, please share your thoughts and be serious.

The wheel! ::::35:: Nice but not my favourite.

Electrisity. Where would we be without this power? Only backside of it is the way it has to be produced. It destroy's nature in some way. Either in polution or looks.

I have to agree with you on Gutenberg's printer. Brought education/writings out of the church and amongst "normal" people.

Gutenberg didn't invent the printing press, he just improved upon it.  He was the first to use a metallic mold that could be reused.  The printing press; however, was invented in China some 1000-1500 years earlier.  Just a fact I thought I would share.

Best invention is jeans.  I couldn't imagine having to wear slacks or dress clothes all the time.

The toilet if it wasn't invented I would make the world stink! ::::12::

I would have to say the best invention is electricity (although its not really an invention) Because without that, we wouldnt have, well... electricity. We would have to use candles, and there would be no Computers/tvs(although i dont eally watch Tv any more...)/etc...

    Am I ever wrong??

    Computer - Duh!

    Microwave - Long live pizza!

Night - Thanks god... it would be awful with day only!

1- Fire (the way to create it )
2- Electricity (how to control it)
    3- dont know

BTW, Star Wars might not have been an invention, George Lucas could well have been kidnapped by some space traveler and he then just though "Ill make movies with my own experience!"... Probably Yoda is just an alter ego of him... just my thought ::::31::

Probably Antonio Meucci's invention of the telephone in 1860.

yes i cannot agree with you more, it doesnt matter whether god is real or not. but religions are defintely man made.

they in my mind are a tool to keep a society from killing itself but putting the fear of eternal punishment in the minds of citizens.

but my favorite invention still has to be steel, without it we would have nothing

Well I'm going to go with the one's I like best, since you didn't say most important, because then that list would be completely different.

    1) Computers - I mean seriously...

    2) Internet - Personally, IMO one of the coolest social modifiers ever.

    3) Birth Control Pill - So many reasons, but it did alot for the womens lib movement and brought forth females much braver then I so that today I can have the heart to stand toe to toe with any guy on just about anything.

I thought he made it and then some english guy made it again.... I swear, when you read the 1 sided history books, you really get stuff like this. I guess they didn't know the name of the inventor in China so I guess Gutenberg got the title or do they know the person? Looks like I got to do some research. Well Like I said, the printing press is in my opinion.

What does that do? Does it keeps women from popping babies like bullets out of a machine gun? Stedroids for women? (sorry but I did miss sex ed in highschool. I read some books and I know some stuff, but the womens side and...their...problems image). I had it in Middle School but they didn't teach enough.

    Please explain.

Can't really say what my top 3 are (would really have to think about it), but just a year or so ago, in England they had a "Top 100 Inventions of All Time", and for them #1 was the bicycle.

    OK OK. I found THIS

so basicly it lets women have as much sex with less chances of having a baby? or does it just prevent accidental pregnacy?

I didn't search it before becuase I'm getting ready for work.

    EDIT

I'm actually starting to remember being taught this...Yeah I remember! It has some history...some kind of women's movement...it's a little faint.

I think I'm late or forgetful by nature.... I remember the Birth Pill now. It just never was my . . . problem. Don't queer guys take that if they want to be a woman or somthing? So they can grow some tits, butt, thighs, female attributes (i think thats the right word) or is that another kind of pill?

Language- without it what would we have to say to each other?

Writing- allows for the exchange of ideas.

Society- we could all still be living in seperate caves.

But seriously there are way to many important inventions out there to list.

In America I have bad teeth. If I lived in England my teeth would be perfect.

The Light Bulb. It enabled people to work into the night, inventing everything else.

Well I would have to agree as most ppl here on Electisity. But I see that as a discovery rather then an invention (that my point of view).

Invention wise I have to say : 1. Birth Control Pills. image
                                                2. The Remote Control. image
                                                3. The Computer. image
                                                4. The Internett image
                                                5. PORN! image

GPS- Without it, I wouldn't be here saying how it's the best invention of all time.
