List of Promises broken about SoG and other Facts!

I have been following this game for sometime and actually am in SoG.

There has been many misconceptions and ignorance running around from the community and I would like to brighten and open up peoples eyes a little.

Doing this as the Company developing D&L has been consistent of just 2 things and I am just plain sick of it.

They are currently consistent ONLY in: Lack of Communication AND Delays ... and now it seems a 3rd thing are Lying!

Also saddened by Fans giving the company excuses and not let them speak for themselves ... but of course we know that they are consistent on not saying anything at all.

Actually I will post here the LIES they have already stated because I still have  in my Guild SIte some of the Posts they had made before.

Open Stress Test
The Open Stress Test is still scheduled and more information on this matter will soon be given to you. SoG and the open stress test have nothing in common (conditions of access, content, dates...)

FACT: Farlan already stated that SoG IS INDEED a Stress Test! Check the post they have in their SoG Live page when the site goes live again ...

Is SoG an open beta?
No SoG is a game by itself - a prelude to DnL. You will not be beta testers, and you will not be asked to sign an NDA or do bug reporting. Settlers of Ganareth is our way of saying "Thanks for all your support and enthusiasm".

Closed Beta and NDA
The closed beta will go on after the release of SoG since we will have a lot of new content and functionalities to test. The NDA will therefore not be lifted for the moment.

FACT: Straight from AD! This is NOT a Beta!!! Stop deluding yourself! Stop giving excuses for their own incompetence!

Below are just a bunch of other LIES that they have stated in their official site!

Will there be both Social XP and Fighting XP systems in SoG?
Yes, both will be implemented.

There is FXP in-game but I have yet to see SXP!

Will there be religions?
Yes, Alchemic Dream will explain how it will be managed in the near future. Each religion will have its own hierarchy and players will be able to run every rank within their religion.
Not in-game!

Will Alchemic Dream will be in SoG for live events?
Live events will be run from the first day of Settlers of Ganareth, and will give you the chance to influence the story. They may even enable you to change the outcome of prophecies! You will also help people to discover new knowledge, and to help them evolve.

I have yet to see this. There has been NO Report of ANY Live Events since Server started! Unless some consider the "Chinese Conspiracy" as one ...

Technical and Player Support:
We will provide the same level of support in SoG as we plan to in Dark and Light. There will be no difference in level of service.

This is just plain scary and shows  how service will be once D&L is released! Service for SoG at this time is Non-existent and that is somehow what I am starting to expect for D&L.

 Exploration in SoG:
Exploration skills and the SxP system will be in SoG.

Another Lie! Both are not  enabled at this time in-game!

Character creation:
When you create your character you will be able to modify your physical appearance. Details such skin color, hair style, facial hair, tattoos and piercings will be available.

Another Lie! You can ONLY Change the Characters: Alignment, Sex, and Hair at this time! Thats it!

 

Now that FACTS has been shown to you ... what do you still think?

So many negative remarks about my post and yet there has not been 1 post to discredit EVERYTHING I have posted.
Facts have been put on the table straight from the mouth of the company making D&L.

I really do want people to discredit me and prove me wrong.
I really do want this game to be successful due to the less than quality products in the market.
I really do want Hard FACTS to discredit what I have posted so I can give this company respect again.

Many of you want me to pack my bags, shut up and leave.
This is your chance to do that as I stated before.

No seriusly, good list. Its really a clear sign how Farland is in over their heads, way behind in promised content and way behind in status of game. There is no way in hell they can release this in April without horrible bugs, missing content and a dwindling fanbase..unless they push it even more.....

Well what they said then and what we went through , are totaly different issues! I am a pionner myself . My husband played SOG as well, he managed to get a free key.  Come to think of it , we did spend more time trying to log in or reboot  , than play:( SOG !  Anyway we are still waiting, and looking forward to dnl . We will surly try it out, then decide to stay or  just continue playing what we play now:).   Btw what about Asian players and their SOG ? I have heard that their SOG is very different than this one! Also that , that their SOG was released about 2 months ago! Anyway to confirm this?

You know what pisses me off , is their silence! They say silence is gold , but not in this case. Their silence and ignorance has given birth to many conflicts and rumours .  My husband says , that in their case theres not much left to say, since the truth is being told by some very smart gamers! There isn't many. First off - mourning was much more finished and more stable. Sure it didn't have half the features it promised but at least you could login and play something. And they even had to build their own engine , tools , networking all from scratch and had ten times less resources to work with than NP3 had..   NP3 had all that stuff done for them.. Licensed out (or stolen material - game engine "?")

Secondly - mourning only took around 700 orders before they stopped and started taking refunds.

DnL took over 8,000 for $60! and refuse to even give refunds on their own after you've logged in.

theres not much comparison.. SoG is on a level of it's own by its own doing.

I knew that whole "pre-order" thing smelled of cod.  Just didn't know why... until I heard about SoG.

I think this game is in serious trouble. Its community is tearing itself to shreds. It's boards are out of control. The company is mute but once every so often some broken english blurb. The product is actually not as bad visually as some players have said but takes a lot of very specific hardware to render it, my normal pc an older alienware box with 1 gig gets 3-5 fps with a geforce 6200 while my new dell 2 gig  with sli and 6800 cards is at 20-25 (25 is cap atm). The memory leaks have been fixed over the week though many still exist, crashs are from every 10 minutes to 1.5 hours or so. The real issue is they've lied to the a significant part of the community as an example; server down messages when it was actually up and the chinese were doing events.

Theres a lot of development issues which I think a large portion of their player base would over look if they could trust the company but the company hasn't made any effort to build trust at all, or an effort to explain why something have happened. Like letting a simple newly introduced error to prohibit most of the people trying to play from playing. It's a  pretty simple error a first year CS student could fix in his sleep.

This game could be great but I don't think its owners can salvage the playerbase or their own reputation at this point without a full out change in the way they are doing business. It feels like Horizons did a few months before release everyone holding their breath hoping for a miracle patch knowing full well its highly improbable.

I'd personally like to see MMORPG.COM take the same steps they did with Mourning but since farland seems not be able to make any statement at all to anyone i doubt they get into the same pissing match. I've been waiting for awhile to play this game excited by all its promises watched with hope and then cheered as they resolved issues with devs leaveing and money problems.

You hit the nail on the head here!

Similar to DnL, I followed Horizons for a long time. I was a beta tester from day one of beta - which ran a LOT better than SoG does.

The key differences are the reasons behind the scenes.
- When David Allen left/was pushed out of Horizons, they lost a lot of their fans.
- Because of agreements with Atari, they could not postpone the retail release/launch.
- Because a lot of fans had left, Horizons preorders did not do as well as they hoped. 
- When the game launched, the few fans left found out quick that a lot of content was missing, as well as some of the promised races. As a result, initial sales sucked.
- Since initial sales where so bad, with limited funds coming in, AE laid off about half it's developers.
- With half the development staff left, new and promised content didn't show up, bugs weren't getting fixed, and people were leaving the game soon after their first free 30 days.
- AE files chapter 11

Even though the reasons are different, online gamers are a fickle group and will abandon a game if they feel the developers are (1) not delivering what they promised, (2) catering to special groups or (3) lying to them.

Unless they open up their lines of communication quick, I see a sinking ship.

DnL is in the same state as it was after last push (til april)... complete and utter silence.

Something is in the making, either they anounce something big or they re-organize everything and get their shit straight...

They do not even realize that saying I am lying is pretty much stating that the representative of the Company is lying.
Why I say this?
Because ALL the FACTS that I used are from the Representative of the Company.

These people just shows the true meaning of "Ignorance is Bliss".

HAH, more stable? Mourning was about as stable as a cardhouse in an hurricane.. The servers were down 90% of the time.

I have to agree though, DnL's scam beats the mourning scam by far.

Nice read, another mmorpg that will bite the dust, so many promises, so many lies.  Delays, delays and more delays, if this game is release in April it will be worst then Horizons or Mourning.

Yeah, I talked to click and buy (farlans merchent account holder) and they we're well prepared for my call and said "it had been a busy morning". I asked for my money to be refunded, and asssume it will be. I just dropped by the boards and they are pretty much in chaos I think the mods have given up.

They dropped some blurb about how people making a automated login were hackers (the defualt patcher sucks so 90% or more have just automated the log-in)

Fresh news, everyone :

Massive network attacks on SoG

During the last few days, we faced violent network attacks on our servers, thus greatly decreasing the game stability. People with bad intentions found how to exploit some properties of the network protocol, and managed to shut the front servers down (the only cluster servers that are directly connected to the Internet) almost instantly when the cluster is restarted.

These malevolent and pointless actions prevent all players from accessing the free service at their disposal.

These attacks are being analyzed, and we are regularly testing and implementing a series of fixes. We are investigating everything from the network protocol to the game engine. Our goal is to offer you a stable cluster, allowing reasonable sessions of gameplay time. The DnL system teams, our developers and the Microforte team wish to solve this problem as soon as possible.

But these fixes require a major part of our team, and it is slowing down the game tuning process. In order to make these tests a priority, prevent more attacks, and to bring SoG back online as soon as possible, we have decided to shut the servers down until Thursday, December 29th.

We apologise for this temporary shutdown, but this decision will help us to defend better against future hackers who prevent our members from enjoying SoG.

This is so unreal!

Dark & Light: "The Largest Scam You Will Ever See!"

1st: They blamed the Clients PC for having problems with SoG according to this announcement on 12/16/05 SoG Live

2nd: They blamed Hackers for the server not being able to be online Before, During and After the Scheduled Downtime on this announcement on 12/22/05 Server News.
PS they even stated that they will still have their Scheduled downtime even after the delays!

3rd: They have stated that they have 'Actually' have the Server up AFTER the last announcement (which did NOT happen) and now blaming it on more Hacker Attacks on the Announcemnet I just posted above!
I wonder when they will actually have the Server up.
IF they manage to somehow get it up soon, they have a Scheduled 2 day downtime from the 27-29!
