Seriously, if this title is around after the first of the year I'll be surprised.

Nothing says, "Going down in flames" like 750 million.

Well earnings wise Diablo 4 and Helldivers 2 are both over the billion dollar mark. Both games started development after SC and released before. GTA 5 has over $8 billion in revenue but it released back in 2013. The call of duty franchise is over $30 billion.

If you're talking about budget to make the game you're right. However I question if they are just dragging their feet because they think they'll make more money selling ships than releasing the game.

These games have been developed and fully supported by big gaming studios and/or big publishers with multi-billion dollar financial backing in the background. These are bad examples to compare it with Star Citizen.

Not really given that the budget to create these games was less than the budget so far to create Star Citizen, and Star Citizen's budget just keeps increasing. None of them come close. As far as developer talent goes according to CIG they've got as big rockstar developers as anyone. I don't know what having a big billion dollar publisher means if they never give you that much money. None of these games spent a billion dollars to make a game. I fail to see how it's not a valid comparison other than you just don't want it to be. I see development teams, budgets, and the ability to release a game and make a profit or not in the case of Star Citizen. Care to explain how having a big publisher affects any of that at all?

Sounds like it is run by the government to me....Alot of wasted resources and manpower.

You can start with not having to use approximately one fourth of your team for marketing and generating additional income. Or setting up a distribution network. Getting product to the customers worldwide is a big PITB for any company that had a project on Kickstarter or similiar crowdfunding sites. You can all hand that over to the publisher and focus on game development.

If you think Star Citizen is expensive, you can take a look at the predicted cost for GTA6 (which will apparently clock in at 2 billion-ish). As GTA was one of the games mentioned.

It is also much easier to get a funding line (with favorable terms) as a game development studio if you have a big publisher like Sony backing you. Which in itself saves A LOT of money in interest rates. And its a lot less work than keeping a crowdfunding campaign running to get the necessary funds.

My guess is they started out not knowing what they were really doing, were surprised by the influx of cash, and doing quite a bit on the fly.  The good news is they've received enough money to get an education and still put out a product - so here is hoping for a solid 3-point landing.

    That first sentence is good....

This doesn’t make one inherently better or worse—it just highlights that the development paths are fundamentally different. Independent projects like Star Citizen often aim for ambitious goals and invite the community into the process, which can be both rewarding and challenging. turbo 25000 puffs
If you combined the heat of all the suns in the Star Citizen universe, combined them with all the suns in the Elite Dangerous universe, and could somehow calculate their combined heat, even that wouldn't approach the heat of the hatred I have for you.

Someone is lucky I'm not influential in government because these guys would get hard jail time - and I'm not even joking.   Don't mess with my forum of choice.

Yeah they did awhile back, some of them are far harder to spot now, not like this one.

I guess the adbots have decided that the Star Citizen base is worth pitching any sort of product to.  Hey, they might buy anything...

Star Citizen reaches $750 million in funds, showcasing massive community support amid IAE event, solidifying its position in the MMORPG  SEO landscape.
I hope you die, pinned underneath a burning sofa.

I hate the idea of more government control over the internet, but I want these kinds of blockheads arrested, tried, and jailed.  Cannot I have one little corner of the internet without some ad retard pissing all over it?

I'm just here to say dying pinned underneath a burning sofa is disturbingly specific. You've put some thought into that. Pianos are much heavier, by the way. Although they're also quite expensive and if you need to do mass executions by burning furniture the sofa is probably more fiscally responsible.  :D :D

I feel honored.  The bot stole part of my signature and made it his affiliate marketing spam.  Wonder if it’s Stephen from Ashes…
