anything over a mobile game like d4
At least PoE is free, but to pay for a mobile game like D4 that has cartoony graphics, is not scary, the story is retconned and it's online-only with no option to play single player without having to connect to a server, it's obvious that PoE is the better choice of the two and the lesser of two evils.
I'd rather play the original Diablo 2, not even Resurrected and even better - Neverwinter Nights Enhanced edition with Diablo 1 and Diablo 2 adventure modules.
When did D4 become a mobile game?
It looks and plays like one, that's enough. Just because it's a PC port doesn't mean it's not mobile trash tier level.
It kinda does mean that. It isn't any more mobile feeling than any other ARPG out there.
I like PoE in concept but just can't commit to games that don't respect my time. Not being able to respec means either spending enormous amounts of time theory crafting or making alts to optimize and try different builds. That's just not a good use of my time. I appreciate the F2P aspect although you absolutely have to invest some $ over time to get storage space for all of the currency types that exist (which is fair and reasonable to me). It also has the benefit of having been developed and expanded over almost a decade since release.
I agree with most criticisms of D3 and see a lot of good in D4 based on the beta cycles so far. To call it a mobile game is bizarre and unwarranted as it doesn't have any of the hallmarks of a mobile game and appears to be a premium experience. Diablo has a better story than PoE (better world building as well), but for many ARPG players that's not super important. We don't know much about the end game yet and let's face it, 1/4 into an ARPG you don't even know how most of the systems will work since they tend to get layered in and often some don't unlock until max level.
If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.
