EQ was my first mmo. Congratulations to EQ's lengthy existence.

If EQ1 would get a new UI I would gladly give it a shot but as someone who started the series with EQ2 I just can't adjust to all this textboxes and UI in general. Still big respect for the 24th anniversary!

If anyone out there thinks modern MMOs are the best ever I would ask them how come a MMORPG released 24 years ago is still going strong? Lets widen this out, these days we see the best received multiplayer online games being really popular for a few to several months then falling away. So please don't tell me that modern MMOs have nothing to learn from old school.

Games like everquest should wear the fact they have been running for so long as a badge of honor.

I don't care if your game is in beta alpha or early access your not a game until you fully release nor should you be considered one

Amazing run for EQ.  I never thought it would survive the change to Daybreak, but they've been there about as long as they were with SOE now.

The gifts were a bit self-serving, though.  One was a weapon ornamentation to make any weapon look like a stein.  The other was a feather cap ornamentation that requires the Hero's Forge ability to wear.  (At $12 per character to enable HF, that's out of my comfort zone).  So, I have a hat ornament in the bank of lots of characters.  Maybe some day.

EQ is the Tom Brady of MMOs....I have no idea how they sustained such a long existence and with what 30 expansions?

EQ1 only has 29 expansions as of March.  The 30th will probably be out this fall.  The game tells me I own 26 of 29, but I have no recollection of buying that many.  I wish that instead of another high-end focused excursion this time, they will go back and revamp some older content or maybe open some 'newly discovered' zones off of older zones, like a hidden higher-level area beneath Karnors Castle or new LDoN dungeons in Velious or Luclin.  Sure, the max levels would hate it, but they've gotten the last umpty dozen expansions already.
