It's been a busy week for The Lord of the Rings Online as the latest mini-expansion, Before the Shadow, is now available for purchase with points in the LotRO Store. The move makes it easier (and cheaper) for those who hoarde points to jump into the new content as before it was only available to purchase from the official website.

This is good that they added it for LP, but I don't think I will every buy it for a few reasons:

    - I don't think new starting zones were necessary, nothing against them, but I prefer the original 3 and each time playing through all 3 with a Stone of the Tortoise starting from Ered Luin, then The Shire and finally Bree-Land

    - I think in the future they might give it away for free so no need to waste LP on that

    - I will give SSG money when I see they've done something noticeable about: a) server lag; b) client performance; c) UI scaling; d) graphic improvements (changing The Last Homely House is not a graphic improvement when it uses the same low-res assets as before, and whoever says new zones level 100 and above look better than the old ones, I see no difference as they also use the same low-res assets from the starting zones)

I keep wanting to come back to this game but it almost feels like you needed to be subbed in order to get anywhere because the progression is extremely slow even with the experience bonus.

Generally the thought is you level too fast and easily out level the quests in any given zone, hence the Stone of the Tortise to help you stay within the zones level range.

Is there something special you're trying to get to?  A certain expansion, end game raid? etc.....  because if so you could pick up a level boost (50 / 105 / 120) to jump ahead.

    SWG (pre-cu) - AoC (pre-f2p) - PotBS (pre-boarder) - DDO - LotRO (pre-f2p) - STO (pre-f2p) - GnH (beta tester) - SWTOR - Neverwinter

I have a 120+ character, the leveling just seems like a slog to me, maybe it's because I'm used to rushing to end game in most MMOs then having nothing to do...
