The latest episode in Amazon Games' New World Forged in Aeternum series touches on the lore of the MMORPG. Not really just the lore itself, but some of the insight into crafting the lore itself.

Some very definite Lovecraftian Chtulu vibes as the story develops.
The slightly animated pixel art style they used for the cut scene storytelling at key moments of the main quest line was a good choice and is very well done.
This is also the first RPG that I recall having worked in the mechanics of dying and resurrecting as well as the mob's respawns into the lore of the game so it isn't this thing where we need to suspend disbelief (within the game's context) but rather our immortality, which was granted to island inhabitants by those Ancients, is lore-consistent.
That immortality is actually what Artemis and her Angry Earth minions want to do away with in the next chapter after Brimstone.

You may say it is unfair to compare today's MMOs to older MMOs which were more lore focused, but would you expect graphics, animation, questing, PvP or anything else to be getting worse or less featured? I thought not. However, like so much in this game, the fact they are building on what they have is what gives me hope for the game down the line.
