ive played EQ for some 20 years or so on and off now. i always stop after planes of power for some reason, so does it seem the same for most of the player base. i want to explore content past that but it is overwhelming. Are "live servers" still kickin? or is everyone still just boxed to the gills doing content solo?
The Scorched Sky content is more proof that the EQ development team has lost touch with their player base. I took a 59th druid into Lavastorm to try this event yesterday. I got 2 quests. The first was to kill a number of each of 5 types of special mobs. All /conned grey to me. I immediately pulled 2 of the special mobs and they nearly ate my tank merc. I had to put full DoTs and a couple of nukes on each just to survive that fight. The mobs were in the 27-35 level range, but easily had more HPs than most things I hunt for XP. That quest gave me lots of money (400+pp) and a smidgeon of XP (<1%).
The second quest had me running around capturing the same special mobs with a clicky net that turned them into some kind of pet. You had to lead the pet back to an NPC. Problem was, the Lavastorm zone is so hilly (with lava flows) that the pets quickly became lost and wouldn't follow correctly. And if you've captured a pet that got 'lost', you couldn't capture another. I've got to work some more on that one today.
