We all know they've been working on one for several years but new rumors from usually reliable XBOX rumorists (is that a word?) are saying that it's set in the Star Wars universe and more specifically with a Mandalorian tie-in.
Massively reported on that a couple of days ago based on rumors reported by Comicbook Gaming.

Whatever it is the thing has been in development long enough now that I do expect a reveal soonish... like at this year's Quakecon or maybe even before.

These big hitters both in terms of popularity and power level can cause all sorts of balancing problems and even detract from the popularity of the main protagonist who are not supers etc.
Quite simply, if you want to have stories built on the rest of the IP's universe minimise their presence as much as you can.
SW certainly have the right idea here, get the most from the icons and without them. But can a game appear without Jedi, well maybe? Games particularly MMO like games like to bundle everything they can in for maximum content and player appeal. They even nab themes and characters from other franchises to guest star in their game! So I am not sure the game will be without the Jedi/Sith.
At least not if we're going to be playing as a Mandalorian.
Calling everything an mmo today is why the genre is a water downed mess.
