Are you tired of MMORPGs that are missing the "Massive" players they're supposed to have? Hopping online with thousands of other players is one of the things that makes MMORPG's great, but so many games these days feel empty, or feel as though they just don't have very active communities. Luckily, we've checked the charts, and put together a list of 5 of Steams most active MMORPG's by their current peak daily player count.

MIR4, a MMO with NFT's is already the second most played MMO on Steam, if anyone thought I was being too much of a doom merchant about NFT's and their lead in to crypto think again. Studios will be looking at this and thinking, "Well what has that game got that explains this success"? Happening even faster than I was predicting.

But it's such a horrible game. Like seriously, think Bless Online, just less player friendly. The poor design and mid tier mobile graphics are completely separate from the NFT aspects. They could have built a good game with NFTs.

    They didn't.

It's such a bad game. But it will probably survive because of the blockchain aspects, at least until something better comes along.

Sort of makes a case some subset of gamers play for reasons other than fun, or challenging gameplay, instead more focused on personal financial progression or NFT collection even if not considered a "good game" by some measures.

Heck for all we know Mir4 might be one of the best games available for players interested in NFTs, crypto and Play to Earn.

Pretty sure at least 100k of the players playing Ark are gold spam bots. They really need to get a handle on it. Most my chat is filled with gold spammers. You block one, three more pop up, move to a new channel or zone, start it all over. Makes lfg in chat a pain in the ass because the second you type something spam pushes it out with double spaced text...

That's the point. It sounds like a good deal, until they steal your credit card info; so on top of being banned you have to shut your card down due to fraud.

Lmao, what an old person mindset. They never "steal your credit card info". You sound like my Grandparents who won't even use Amazon because they "don't want to give out their credit card info online".

Congratulations!  You've obviously never had a suspect charge appear on your credit card statement.  Please don't ridicule people who choose to take precautions.

I decided to set up an account on Ebay, and provided my information with my CC info.

It was hacked that day, and by the next day, somebody had tried to charge a bunch of steam games on my stolen CC.

How you paying for your game gold numbnuts? With a$$? B/C most the sites ask you to enter your card info for purchase and I see no option for purchase with crypto.

Lost Ark is the best MMO out at this moment.

I had my doubts, thought Ark was going the way of kuf2 years back.

MMO tend to have crappy combat...Snoring boring; LA keeps you on edge.

All the game kind of suckey except PoE if you haven't played it before.

This isn't a signature, you just think it is.

Unpopular opinon: PoE is just a lawn mowing simulator. A early levels it's good. At high levels people speed run the maps annihilating everything even before seeing anything.

Not my kind of game. I like to fight my enemy in Elden Ring fashion.

Only 2 games are real mmorpg on a mmorpg top 5 list is more than strange and sad for the genre.

wow! MIR4 surprised me! never heard of it.

I'm also surprised that New World was mentioned..... I thought they lost 90% of their population. How can it be so high up? Probably due to the fact that there are not very many quality MMO's out there.

Never heard of MIR4 before this article. On a related note, the MIR4 team doesn't seem to have ever heard of Ultima Online before. From their Steam description:

"MIR4 has created an unprecedented Free-for-all loot system where anyone has the right to claim the loot, even players that didn’t participate in the takedown of the monster."

Top 5 most active for the year. We're 3 months into the year. It's sad for the genre but its definitely no top 5 of all time list or anything like that.

For one of those, the majority of activity is probably people logging in to see what server they got merged to.

    I kid! I kid!

So easy to just restrict chat until you reach a certain level. Sure it wouldn't stop all of them, but at least it would slow them down as you ban them.

Blame this site for putting them on the list. They simply should not be, period. They should have moved down to the next real MMOs. A site called MMORPG doesn't know wtf constitutes an MMORPG. That is strange and sad.

This list isn't very good IMO. New big budget game is more or less gonna jump to the head of the queue. Although, some of the older games on there are kinda interesting.

So there's at least 3 traditional mmos on the lost, one persistent online arpg that steam labels as an mmo, the only one that would probably not be considered a true mmo is warframe.

Once other companies start doing it the market will become saturated with worthless NFT games.

A lot of people playing are from poor(er) countries. A ton of Brazilians play because selling the NFTs is better than most full-time jobs in Brazil.

You know the genre is in rough shape when a mobile port that can be auto-played is number 2, yikes.

The mobile market is just insane...So many of these games are pure garbage, but there are people that play them simply because they can play on a phone or tablet and are very convenient.
