I hope the best for SC and the backers; however, I'm growing weary of hype and no product. I don't see anything here that isn't available - to play right now - in other games.
What genuinely new things did you expect the game would provide?
From what I've seen on youtube they ultimately intend to provide a high degree of immersion and suspension of disbelief through verisimilitude and attention to detail. Early elements of that are already on display.
While what they do may not be new as one would hope it may be done in a way sufficiently different or better than previous entries in the genre, at least to some, that it may well draw a lot of people in upon release.
I feel this an interesting video for what the game offers early on, at least at the time it was made:
He has many other informative videos about the game as to what is on offer now and perhaps provide you more insight into what it is heading toward.
I found those videos of his I watched to be interesting at any rate.
