Blockchain MMORPS

Not any of the other games of the last 4 years. None of them got me back on PC gaming. I'm back because of crypto. Have you all tried any? I'm convinced the next WoW size splash in the mmorpg genre will be on the blockchain.

I hadn't heard of it before now and a quick search didn't fill me with confidence that it is something I want to get involved with.

Are you talking about something like Decentraland and their Mana token?

If so, then no, NO, and, HELL NO!

Im not certain what you're talking about. I get the feeling this might just be trolling! In case it's not.....

Are you talking about an MMORPG built on blockchain technology? Then fuck no, sounds like a terrible idea. None of the benefits of blockchain seem like they'd be useful for gaming, and the extra overheads would actively make it worse.

Are you talking about an MMORPG used to farm cryptocurrency or something like that? Well, if they wanna give me some digital currency just for playing a game, sure, as long as the game is good.

Are you talking about a game that can be paid for using cryptocurrency? No problem with that, but I have no problem with normal fiat currencies so I'd rather pay for something using fiat money as it's more stable.

If ur talking about something else, please explain :P

Play a game and make more money than you spend while gaming? Always sounds good in theory but in practice they are all shit games with game play elements secondary to the economy.

They all remind me of the D3 real money AH and what a shit game D3 was until they ditched that.

All of this is based on Ethereum. Better to put some money straight into that and watch it grow then to play something like this and expect any kind of decent return. Especially with Eth.2.0 around the corner. Just my 2 cents.

These games work by making you realise you can only make real money by investing real money, so you invest more and realise you are not getting the returns you hoped for. So you can invest even more or be satisfied with low returns, meanwhile you work more and more in game to try to push up the returns.

Alternatively you could put your money into a real investment product and play excellent games you enjoy, not feeling bound to play one game to try to keep your sub par returns afloat.

It would make it almost impossible to dupe items if every item had to be verified with the block chain upon creation.

So what is the gag here?

The crypto-miners use 95% of my video card's processing ability while serving up a sub-par game on the remaining 5%?

Not all blockchains are secured via proof of work which involves mining.
Kind of side steps my comment.

No.  None of what you are saying is what is being discussed as far as the implementation of the blockchain in gaming(except the subpar gameplay thus far).  There are methods of verification and transfer in certain blockchains that are fast, exceedingly cheap and don't involve the end user.  It will only get cheaper and faster.

Current implementation in all the headlines is kind of a scam and more focused on half baked NFT cash grabs.  There is a future for it in games as a service that doesn't involve microtransaction scams.

If you thought gold sellers ruined games wait until each rare item is secured via blockchain and stuff starts selling for thousands of real world dollars.

This, like the Bitcoin nonsense, IMHO, is just another run up before a very large crash.
Any game that has these kinds of features is going to be off limits for me.
    What a mess.
Yeah, I think so too. Basically, it looks like a pyramid scheme.
