Don't just pick raspberries, shrooms, dandelion and thistles and run off...mark it on your map. They respawn at the same place so it's handy to have a large run as these are all used for late game food meals for HP and healing/stam pots. Pick up all those yellow shrooms from crypts they are needed too!
If you mark all the ones around your main base you can run around with zero inventory and fill it all up rather quickly. Quite handy!
Kill every serpent you run across, their meat floats and is needed for top HP meals same for lox.
Not sure about the berries - just near my main base, I have a little ruined villages where you had fields of raspberries, they never respawned (yet).
My berries and mushrooms respawn. They take a couple of (ingame) days to regrow tough. Whenever I find a large patch of certain berries or mushrooms, I mark them and when I'm passing by go collect them.
I recommend not fighting Yagluth at night. Area mobs will spawn at night. I had 2 Goblin packs spawn nearby while I was soloing Yagluth at night. The Goblins decided they wanted some fun. Needless to say, it wasn't pretty and they made a huge mess of things.
On a side note, apparently Yagluth location marker is a rare find. I completely searched 10 different plains zones and never found a location marker. Luckily after a week of searching I found Yagluth arena. I never did find a location marker still.

Ya looking back, I wouldn't eat any of the red shrooms ever, save those for mid game. Eat yellow shrooms instead plenty of those around. Grab every thistle you can find for mid/end game. Dandelions you wont really use much, at least I didn't.

Also, if you craft the bronze shield (or higher), you can parry their attacks if you time it right and stun them. You will need some stamina to kill them without kiting, but its doable.
However, one thing I noticed is that the troll that is bare handed, if he does the overhead smash with both hands, I couldn't parry that attack (at least with my bronze shield+3). So avoid that attack.
Melee is totally out for me I can guarantee I will get hit by every one of the troll's attack. I cannot time parry and block for shit. Kiting I can do. I have quadkited in Everquest but I had J boots on so does not really count for much. Plus I did it only a couple of times and then died and lost more experience than I gained so I gave up quadkiting. I decided AOE groups was the 'Sauce'.
Its not easy, as if you time it wrongly you get hit. Still, a bronze shield or higher can block the whole hit if needs be. Only that overhead smash I wasn't able to block/parry.
You can parry a troll pretty much everytime, just need to move back a little bit, doesnt work if you too close.
That being said, if you use a serpent shield you will never parry, its pretty much worthless IMO, so I would skip serpent shields completely. Getting good at parry is so OP in this game. Those crits you get are insane.

When you say parry do you mean the right mouse button that brings the shield up for blocking? At least that's what I've been calling it. Is parry and block the same thing? I see the game use the word parry in weapon stats, but in some references right-mouse button is referred to as blocking. I want to make sure I'm not missing out on anything.

Apparently they do not mean the same thing.
Block = When you hold right click to block an attack. Parry = When you time the blocking at the exact moment they attack to counter them.
I learned it like a month ago. English is not my main language haha. I assumed parry meant blocking with your weapon while blocking meant using a shield.
I wish I had never passed up any Thistles ever. I mean harvest every single one of them. It is probably the single material ingredient for making the quantity of food and potions I want.
This is more of a glad I didn't screw this up, but....
The carrots and turnips you harvest can be replanted as a "seed" crop. Early on carrots, but especially turnips, seeds were harder to come by. I always take a portion of my crop harvest and put it in my seed box to replant for seeds. Seed plants give 3 seeds per plant so it's easy to calculate your needs.
Dont kill the last boss ...my friends and I did last night. I also checked wiki afterwards and we do have all the items which are currently available in the game. There is now not much to work towards and while we agreed we will still build some new castle for ourselves, we are now pretty much stuck waiting for some content patch.
It was a good ride. We took our time and spent slightly over 160 hours in the game before killing the boss.
I hope they will invest part of the revenues back into the game development as it has a great potential and I think it would be great if they released a couple expansions. Given the current state of the game, I would not even have a problem with an expansion while still in early access.

I won't be reaching the last boss ever lol I just managed to upgrade my leather armour with the bones I got from killing skellies in the Black Forest. I have such a long way to go. I am genuinely scared at night in this game.
I took over a structure near the Black Forest since it was too far to go back to my other houses and one skeleton, thanks heavens it was just one, came to attack me in that little shack I had enlarged a bit and put a campfire in. I was actually sitting down nervous that a troll would come by and I dared not even sleep, so I stayed awake until morning.

Do the same with flax and barley, once you get some replant to get double back that way you dont need to be raiding goblin camps til you are ready to.

If you are on your single player server just throw down a bed with the fire in the area you are harvesting, I like using those pre made stone buildings (you can put a portal in them too). When it gets dark use bed to sleep and skip the night.

There are still 3 biomes that are not finished, mistlands, ashlands and high mountains. And yagluth isnt totally done as when you kill him you get items named "yagluth things" which I am guessing will be items to help in the next biome/boss area. Tell your friends you want to kill the bosses again but 2 at a time.
Torval and I have only beat the first two bosses. About 170 hours in game and I have not been bored or pressed to advance past the second boss at all. Not that we will not take on the rest of the bosses at some point but as it is we are building up our village and having a blast. We have one area which we have dedicated our time to that has roads connecting from our main walled off village with our ships to another smaller walled village near the swamps and plains that has a pretty little lake stocked with fish. Now we just need to stumble on to the trader at some point to get poles. This game has a magic to it that keeps me entertained in a way no other game has in recent memory. The world feels lived in and I love living in it.

With the right meat and potions, I would dare to try all five at a time . I am aware of the bioms to come. I will definitely be coming back to this game when they land. We are not abandoning it now either. As Blue says, it is a nice place to live in. I think my friends and I will be staying for a while and just do stuff.

hehe I meant 2 of same type, like 2 elks or elders. Dont think there is a way to get all 5 bosses in same spot.

This is what I like about this game. There is no pressure to hurry. You can play solo or with couple friends and just choose the pace that suits you. This game kind of encourages you to take your time and enjoy the various activities it has to offer. You do not feel like the content is there purely for you to chew through it as fast as possible to reach some kind of "endgame".
It is a good story you shared. Shows that you are immersed which comes naturally in this game.
We never feel like we play towards some kind of objective. We usually just log in and say...ok what we gonna do today. Sometimes we build, sometimes we gather mats to fill our stocks with food and potions and sometimes we go to the wild and just mine metals and collect more precious materials. This usually involves some crazy stories where we end up running away from something while almost dead . There were so many occasions where my friends and I laugh hysterically after managing to get to our boat and sailing away while leaving behind us a host of monsters that chased us all the way across the whole biome to the shore. Once I played on discord the music from Lord of the Rings which always plays after they managed to survive or overcome some difficult situation. We were laughing like crazy . I guess it is one of those "you would probably have to be there" stories to find it entertaining.
You should get some friends to play with. It really brings the experience to the next level. Plus, you would be less scared if you are not alone sleeping in that ruin .
It's amazing what they have done without the highfalutin graphics. Just a beautiful colour palette and engaging world. It just works so well to make you feel you're actually in this dangerous and immersive world. Got to give it to the creators, really good job and all this in early access.

I agree with this. I just want to expand on why I think parry and not blocking is so OP.
Large shields and serpent shield do not have parry force, small shields all do have parry force, which makes small shields better.
To parry, just wait until you see the mob swing, then try to block. If you time it correctly, the mob will be stunned/prone for 3-4 seconds. You will know they are parried because you will both hear a noise, and you will see the most mobs flailing and wave their arms around on their heels. During this time: a) The mobs are not attacking you for 3-4 secs b) If you attack the stunned/prone mob you will do massive damage. I don't know if its a flat number like 3x or just a huge critical, but its big numbers. c) You will take little to no damage d) You can also parry archers with a small shield from a distance, which will allow you to run and close the gap and kill them quickly. Just wait until right before or immediately after they fire the shot. You can parry the archer.
On the other hand if you just block using a large shield or any shield without the parry effect. You can absorb all the damage from that attack, but the mob can continue to attack you, so if you swing at them, and they swing at you then you will get hit and you can take lots of damage. Especially if there are multiple enemies.

I have seen those skeleton-occupied stone structures that have those cramped stairs. I thought the skeletons would return while I am sleeping the night away and give me a skeleton beatdown. I didn't think of using those.

Yesterday I had the most awful time ever in Valheim. I died like 3 times and I lost my grave marker due to my own stupidity. I was trying to mine copper and I think like 5 hits and mobs come from everywhere trying to kill you for daring to interrupt their siesta.
I also tried to sail a raft near Black Forest without ever being on one and fell off and almost drowned but luckily found "E" in time. By the way now that we are on the topic of drowning, can you recover your corpse out in the sea should you die there.

Yes if you die in water your tombstone floats on the spot. Also, raft is very cumbersome in my opinion and if you have some bronze I suggest you make a karve instead. It also has 4 cargo slots.
Don't start hacking with your silver sword when 2 deatsquitos fly onto your longship. Instead just block with a shield and hit once - it's enough to kill a bug. Anyway those 2 deatsquitos went down but sadly with my ship. Luckily I managed to swim to the shore with a stamina potion, build a raft and sail back but I still feel like an incompetent

I'm going to try to learn how to sail that damn raft first instead of trying to hop on it without learning how to sail it. I was pressing "w' expecting it to move and it just sat there in the middle of the ocean and I was really scared to death I was going to drown with every single tin ore on me. Didn't get to the copper because I had no time to loot it before I got attacked and killed.
I have to be the most dumbest person playing this game because before I got back to my corpse I died again hence I spent like one hour desperately seeking my corpse. I almost burst into song "has anybody seen my corpse" that famous ditty from Everquest except I am the only damn one on the server.
I have to get the surtling cores too and boy am I looking forward to those deaths.
When you have one arrow pointing up, your character rows.
When you have two arrows pointing up, you use the wind for moving forward at medium(ish) speed.
When you have three arrows pointing up, you use the wind for moving forward at full speed.
Now, when to use which stage?
You row IF the wind (indicated by an arrow) is pointing the opposite side of you. This can be seen by it being greyed out. Can also be used when you need precise navigation too.
You use the other two stages if the wind is blowing behind you (best scenario) or from the sides. Depending how fast you want to go, you choose between stage 2 and 3.
Besides that, rotating should be self explanatory. Hope that can be useful for anyone struggling with the raft/boats.

Anyway those 2 deatsquitos went down but sadly with my ship. Luckily I managed to swim to the shore with a stamina potion, build a raft and sail back but I still feel like an incompetent
- When you have one arrow pointing up, your character rows.
- When you have two arrows pointing up, you use the wind for moving forward at medium(ish) speed.
- When you have three arrows pointing up, you use the wind for moving forward at full speed.
Now, when to use which stage?- You row IF the wind (indicated by an arrow) is pointing the opposite side of you. This can be seen by it being greyed out. Can also be used when you need precise navigation too.
- You use the other two stages if the wind is blowing behind you (best scenario) or from the sides. Depending how fast you want to go, you choose between stage 2 and 3.
Besides that, rotating should be self explanatory. Hope that can be useful for anyone struggling with the raft/boats.
