Covid is a handy scapegoat for many things. Not saying it has not destroyed lives but it can be used to explain away sticky things that might have in other circumstances drawn far more scrutiny.
I agree with others who are saying the pandemic provided a handy excuse for these studios to shut down their sub-par games.
I think that trend will continue with or without the pandemic, though. Most MMOs still left are aging badly, and while a few of the larger one will continue to lilmp on for years, more and more of the smaller or less populated are going to start closing shop left and right.
Bioware blamed the cancellation of Anthem Next on the Pandemic, that now old excuse for studio failures.
With all these cancellations the world of MMO's gets smaller, lets hope we have some decent releases this year.
You will only get, what people will pay for.
You will lose what they won't pay for.
It's as simple as that.
Egotism is the anesthetic that dullens the pain of stupidity, this is why when I try to beat my head against the stupidity of other people, I only hurt myself.

My money is on RIFT being the next to go kaput.
