What is true BS! They kept us on a fricken hook playing and still selling crap on there in game shop TELLING US IT IS COMING FOR OVER A YEAR!! That is the shadiest part of all this, players still into Anthem investing time and money on cosmo's to bring over to the updated version NEXT. The post about reusing old IP'S I agree! (love DAO and ME don't get me wrong) But they are right, having the world, characters and dedicated fans to that ip is just about as close to 100% success and $$ for Bioware. This may have a huge impact on the gaming industry, saying DO NOT MAKE new IP'S there to big of a risk!! Every Game was a NEW IP at one time remember that.

I would liked to have seen another map with new life and monsters. It got boring flying around the same environment. I was really shocked that this wasn't part of release. Also, it was kind of a bummer when you would find a secret cavern to explore, only to discover nothing inside.

This is straight up wrong, not because the game would have potential, but it is a scam. It is like EA used excuse "we will overhaul the game" to vaporware the game so that there would be less backlash. EA should be sued or forced to 100% refund the game so that there would be example that devs just can't irresponsible for their product.

What was in EA's mind here? Lets give the looter shooter to the team that has no experience with that sort of game, why do that? Was it a cost cutting measure, rather than bringing on new people just get "Bioware" to do it as they do nothing? Or is it that EA sees the sort of games Bioware makes as going no where when it comes to GAAS? It still puzzles me, why would EA's top honchos think that's a good plan.

Keep in mind, this was during a time when the hiveminds at EA thought the single-player rpg genre was dead and live-services were the future.....its so good that Fallen Order failed, right EA? Oh wait....Couple all of this with forcing EVERY studio to use frostbite for EVERY game. Freaking geniuses......People are getting excited for the next dragon age and mass effect, but if that mantra still olds, I'll uncross all my hopes. Especially since they kept saying that a lot of the frame work for dragon age was going to be built off of the improvements of Anthem.....so, yeah....

COVID 19 went back in time several years to destroy this game.

    Curse you, COVID 19!

Not sure who didn't see this coming. I think it's the right move, but I have little hope that DA4 or ME5 will be something that is at least as good as anything in the original ME trilogy or the first couple DA games. At least in terms of the story and characters.

The Bioware that drew me to their games is long dead.

I'm not an IT Specialist, Game Developer, or Clairvoyant in real life, but like others on here, I play one on the internet.

I am hoping for more love for SWTOR :)
Bioware should focus on what it does best - pure RPG. DA and ME are my favorite RPGs, It's been way too long for the new sequels.
I never played Anthem, even though I got it for free. Shooters are not my thing LOL.

That can't be right surely, just PR to suggest all that time has not been wasted?

Don't think this shocked anyone. When you saw the devs attached to the project jumping ship it was a sign that it was over already.

Has Bioware done anything that has garnered good press since Mass Effect 2?

Dragon Age: Inquisition was both critically acclaimed, and extremely well received by fans so yes.

Bioware is just a name that EA kept - the actual studio of old that made ME2 is long gone.
SWTOR was the last real Bioware game

I don't know about that...Some of the "old guard" came back to work on DA4, and the next Mass Effect.

ME2 was the last great Bioware game (and their magnum opus), IMO. Everything since has been deeply flawed. The ME3 ending wasn't even its biggest problem (no, that would be its crap new companions and shafting of old ones), while DAI and MEA sucked.

While I personally enjoyed the Anthem world and gameplay, the name was too tainted by the overhyped release expectations.

Would be a good property to snag, once EA kills it in their EA-Way, and make an RPG or MMO out of it.  Instead of the unfocused original

Yes, just make a singleplayer aRPG inspired by Anthem, why not? It would be a shame to let these ideas rot, there was a definite potential here, it's just...don't force "always online" or "multiplayer" on everything.

I thought MEA was largely forgettable apart from the tired face memes, but DAI was a hair's breadth away from brillance.

Played it when it hit xbox live. Loved the controls and combat. Hope they keep it live for a while as I like diving in from time-to-time just for the combat. Great looking game; wish it had worked out for them.

For me Anthem was the next step of gaming with an unmatched perfect world and near cinematic gameplay quality.
It's a total disappointment that a big company like EA cannot hire decent people who can add more content.

Bioware, you don't deserve your name "Bio".
EA: I had 2 yearly subscriptions to support Anthem. You lost a customer for ever.

Now I know the name EA.
    EA= End Anthem
