For as old and niche as this game is it has a pretty healthy player base. Just because you cannot appreciate the art that is LOTRO does not mean others cannot. Shallow...

The Lord of the Rings and the other books by Tolkien taking place in Middle Earth are one of the most iconic in the fantasy genre, I even own pretty much every Tolkien book I can think of, maybe except The Silmarillion, that includes Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, The Children of Hurin, even a foldable, illustrated map.

But to call this trash game "art" is borderline ignorant. It's a subpar WoW-clone at best. The engine it's written on is already too outdated, the performance is horrible even when playing it maxed out at 300+ FPS, it still feels laggy, cunky and delayed. The visuals look really dull and depressing even in the most lush and cheerful areas. The UI has huge in inconsistencies such as many UI elemets being really small, hard to see or have poor design choices in terms of colors and readability, sometimes both issues are present. You can see maps from 2007 and maps from 2017 and they look like night and day difference. Both look ugly and it's hard to see what is on the map.

To call this game "art", as I said is not only ignorant, but displays a great deal of blind fanboyism.
I am not sure about deciding games are art in general, when I look at how ridiculous the art world is I think we are better of without such a criteria being applied to games. Why do we even need it?

The games graphics are dated, what do you expect? But not as dated as most MMOs launched in that era. I don't agree that everything looks dull and depressing, I think that is rather in the eye of the beholder. Why we even have WoW still going strong which is now just about on the cusp of what I won't play because the graphics are too poor. So I am not sure being cutting edge graphically is as important as you seem to think.

Allow me to recommend the Silmarillion, very dry in places some chapters are more like a history lesson. But wonderful for that feeling of where is all started and what propels the events of the LotR. I think the new Amazon series will bring the second age to life.

Fixes the bug that allowed the existing cap - that was placed ages ago - to be exceeded.

What's ignorant is you not understanding that "art" is in the eye of the beholder.

I could list the things I dislike, hate and even despise about the game but can at least recognize there is an "art" to the whole thing and one that some people love. Or even just appreciate.

Fanboyism? How about you listing all the lord of the rings goodies that you own to give your opinion more weight. I would think that would be a bit nerdy.

Not sure why you are, again, just being a jerk other than the obvious.

Only a clueless person would write such a silly post.  Still a classic game that stays true to the Tolkien legend.  Far superior to Wow as there are not any boilerplate character designs.  You obviously don't play MMOs much.  I kind of feel sorry for you.
