Advice on Server Rental and Mods Required

I was really enjoying CardLife, which was my first ever foray into these types of games, but the developer canceled it.
There really is nothing like digging down into the earth and finding a cave or a dungeon.  Good times.

Anyways, I'm not finding a suitable replacement for CardLife so I thought I'd drop back to the original.

So I'm looking for advice on the following points:
1: Who is a good company to rent a server from as I want to have a private server with friends?
2: I'd like better textures, and better caves, and some small dungeons that I can raid, take over, build upon.  More creatures too - so what are a couple of high quality mods you'd recommend that work well together.

Please make recommendations.
Also, I'd like a large game world because I like to explore - how do you set that?

Any advice welcome.

The best thing to do is google terms like "minecraft server rental $2/gb or $3/gb" and see what you find. If you take a look at their refund policy, most of them allow for a money back guarantee within 24 hours or something.

As far as mods go, the best advice I can give you is to take a look at curse forge, sort by version, then category of mod (such as adventure, textures, tech, tech) and see what you want. Many of the server hosts have 1 click install for popular packs such as DW20, Skyblock, Stoneblock, etc.

What a terrible thing to wish upon people, regardless of zombies sexual preference.

I ended up getting the Bedrock Edition.
I'm surprised how much depth the game has - for a kid's game.
    Totally love it.
