What do you guys think about those that choose not to vaccinate their kids?

With the debate raging and measles trying to make a comeback, what do you guys think of those anti-vaxxers.

It's a tough call. Where does "free choice" factor in? I respect those "non-vaccinators" choices, but public health and safety must be looked at, too.

I guess those that do vaccinate don't have a worry while those who do not may have to worry about their children. Maybe that will provide the "proof" they need?

Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse.

Fuck 'em.  Everyone wants their own safe place.  Not being vaccinated is not a safe place.

I grew up on the tail end of polio and measles.  I still remember the iron lungs people lived their entire lives in while warehoused in rooms full of other occupied iron lungs.  Seeing people with measles and chicken pox scars was not unusual.

Vaccines did require parental approval.  I never met a kid that wasn't vaccinated.  Why?  Probably because their parents had grown up seeing the results of living in a era that didn't have vaccines for these diseases.  They didn't want their children to have to live in that same world if they could help it.

Vaccines were given to all possible children at public schools.  You went to school got in line and were given a shot or just a single drop of vaccine on the tongue.

I think people confound vaccination and early vaccination. Injecting a newborn with 200 viruses may have adverse affects. But I don't think vaccinations over time is an issue.

It's their free choice. But they better not cry and complain when their child contracts measles or the like. Sure, it could be an issue due to a possibility of outbreak, but most people are vaccinated, so who cares.

Being vaccinated helps quite a lot but it does not guarantee 100% that you won't contract the disease. So the more of these backward ass morons there are the larger the vector, hence an increased risk of infection even for the vaccinated. Not to mention the most vulnerable portion of the population, newborns.

Very true, but where does the line get drawn? A lot of "unhealthy" habits abound, especially in America. Will "we" finally make cigarettes illegal and try again to outlaw alcohol? Drunk driving still kills many, many people every year and cigarettes have such a bad rep, they should go just on principle.

    Where does the interference stop?

We can't "evolve" if stupid people are forced to live, when their genepool should die out. It is sad and I never enjoy the death of anyone, but I am a follower of the laws of nature. Death is a part of life :)

I have two children. I remember taking them in to be vaccinated. I kept thinking, even if only 1 in a 100 million people are somehow harmed by this, what if my kids are that 1?

But then I remembered that I am not a scientist, not a doctor, and not an idiot who buys into internet crackpot theories, so I vaccinated my children like any responsible parent would.

Plus, if I don't vaccinate, what if they die from some easily preventable disease? What if they spread that disease to others, who may also die? I don't want to be the guy who caused any of that.
