People say Summer 2019 ?
Usually when a gaming company states one of the four sessions it means at the end of it. This generalized statement usually gives them wiggle room for delays after that.
I never was able to read anything coming from Blizzard.
For some reason their web site was always so full of fluff I could never get the answers I searched for. I'm sure an update statement is their, but not in the mood to search for it..... Being middle of April something should be more nailed down.
Added short story:
Several months ago a fellow worker that lightly plays around with programming, he got a hold of a Vanilla World of Warcraft emulator and was able to get it working, change things around such as difficulty and loot drops, basically anything he wanted. However he fell short of making it go live on the Internet only because he lost desire.
He's clearly a novice programmer.
Obviously their is more to it than that, such as price plans, large quantities of servers, and unforeseen difficulties...... But come on, this is Blizzard, they do this for a living and have years of experience of such unforeseen difficulties.
This situation reeks of marketing, timing and "pure big profit" standing in the way of us getting a classic game.

I mean... yes, Blizzard is trying to build and release classic because they want to make a shitload of money. And the release date is part of that.
But they're also building WoW classic so that it runs on current version of WoW client and servers so that we'll get all the improvements like compatibility with modern hardware, better stability, and better anti-cheat systems. That kind of project takes time.
They are remaking the game within the modern client and converting the Vanilla data to be compatible with the modern database. So it takes a considerable bigger effort.
I do suspect we will see a release date very soon.
I hope this DOES NOT include a cash shop.
Will get Classic Vanilla but with strings attached.

'But there are many. You can play them entirely solo, and even offline. Also, you are wrong by default.'
Ikcin in response to yours sincerely debating whether or not single-player offline MMOs exist...
'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.
It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.
It is just huge resource waste....'

they are updating vanilla's graphics to be equivalent to modern wow
1. It will happen when there isn't a content patch out or due out. The whole point of classic is to keep people subbed... period. That means when everyone leaves BfA, that's when Classic will roll out.
2. Classic's delay has 100% to do with them trying to make it work in the new BNET system, had they just done it like all the private servers did, it was ready a long time ago. It's the fact that they want to use their new client that caused all the problems and delays.
3. Even when it does go live... it's still too late. Classic will be as popular as the WoW movie was a decade too late.
