When was it never just about money? They are a BUSINESS.
Back when developers made games because they too were gamers. Back when you knew the names of the developers, but not the name of the studio.
You can live in whatever delusional world you want. But games have always been business first, love affair second. Otherwise they would be made as side projects or hobbies on the weekend. When people's livelihoods are on the line. You better believe they are thinking about the money.
