RDR2 $725,000,000 opening weekend

There seems to be a few haters and those hoping RDR2 fails for whatever reason on this site.  Well unfortunately for that small group there is no hope for their desire to see RDR2 fail.

Rockstar has trumpeted Red Dead Redemption 2's astronomical sales, claiming it to be the second-biggest entertainment launch of all time.

Not bad for just some console launch.

    Perhaps it would've been the biggest had they launched on PC as well. :wink:

    Didn't Dark Souls get ported to pc through a petition? Or is that only because From Software listened.

    Probably followed by a statement next month that Rockstar was disappointed that it didn't reach 1 billion....oh wait, that's activision.

    And their previous title has sold $6 billions, not considering the cash-shop sales. They run a very different machine. They are like the James Cameron meets Christopher Nolan of gaming.

    How can you not know about Cyberpunk 2077 with Witcher 3's popularity?
    True. I didn't know RDR2 was even being made until a few months ago. Of course I don't own a Xbox or PS4, so that maybe a big factor. 

    However, Cyberpunk I've been waiting for since 2014 or whenever it was announced. Then this year, it took over the E3 conference when the presentation was "hacked".  Nothing about RDR2 at E3 that I saw. 

    I mean everyone's gotta at least know about Cyberpunk by now right? If not, I imagine the marketing will really kick after a launch date is announced. 

    It will be interesting to see how the sales compare.

    Doubt cyberpunk will reach that level in only 3 days, but I guess we will see when the time comes.

    This is good to hear. Rockstar created a masterpiece in RDR2 and deserves the success. Nothing makes me happier as a gamer then when great games succeed. The level of immersion and attention to detail Rcokstar has created has set the bar so high on future RPG's I'm not sure how any small studio  or large one for that matter could replicate or top what has been done with this game.

    im loving the game. i laugh so hard when i see PC elitists complaining cus they cant play it. i was PC only until destiny then i bought a console. i now own every console and can play any game that releases. see, im a gamer. not a PC gamer or console gamer. A GAMER. so while people complain or have to wait for it to release on their platform, im already playing it.

    I don't generally watch YouTube videos because my attention span won't let me sit through 10+ minutes for a 10 second sound bite.


    Are there any articles that include the quote included in that video?  Again, I googled for any statement quoted from CDPR about Cyberpunk having both viewpoints, but found nothing.

    To add: I found an article claiming from 2013 that CyberPunk will support both, but it was an incorrect/unconfirmed extrapolation from a dev quote.

    The game will feature segments where the player will see things from the third-person perspective, but it sounds like those will be sort of like Destiny: you go third person in cutscenes and while riding vehicles.

    I actually like the way Deus Ex does this: mostly 1st person for all the action and 3rd person for hiding behind cover and cut scenes.

    I'm sure CDPR has watched Deus Ex closely for this and many other things. Their quote I use for my sig was aimed directly at Mankind Divided :)
