    Permanently on.

I'm a 2700 rated player though, so in all fairness I'm more than a bit biased.

Out of the loop here - is "war mode" a PvP flag on/off?

    Correct.

It can only be toggled in Orgrimmar or Stormwind though, unlike the old flagging system.

Off because I just don't care enough. When or if I want to PvP, I go to the arena or to battlegrounds.

Yes, but kinda "permanent", you can only toggle it in your capital city.
It works a bit like in Asheron's Call PVE servers.
And you get new talents and some advantages when you have it on.

Harder to flip as mentioned and also you get an XP boost for the "time lost" for getting ganked.  They tried to make it for people who like that sort of thing but didn't want to be penalized leveling for it.  I wonder how that works out :)

Off.  Never have had it on and never will.  If I want to pvp there are other games that do it far better than wow ever could.

Blizzard enticed people to use warmode because of the XP boost... but quite frankly you never needed it... peeps were hitting 120 in 3 days without it.

So the PVEr's screamed bloody murder because they were getting ganked all the time with it on.  The PVPer's didn't get the world PVP Blizzard thought it would revitalize and lost their PVP centric servers to boot.  However, all the talents that used to be in the talent tree in Legion found their way into the PVP tree, so in that respect, your player was more 'whole' flagged for PVP than it was when it wasn't flagged for PVP.

All in all it was a bust.  I don't think the bounty system ever took off either.  Can't lead a horse to water and make him drink sort of thing.

when I played, always on, 10% exp and stuff far outweighs the penalties. Also pvp talents were really good for pve. people leave other ppl be anyways, unless they gang up on solos ( all the elite pvpers do :P )

was on  pvp servers prior to this so when i play it's on.

last i played it was just being abused though because of the achievements and what not. like several raids of 1 faction farming a handfull of the opposite faction at some flightpath.

I had fun once, it was terrible.

Off on my alliance characters and server, 5+ hordies vs me all the time is terrible
On on my horde characters and server, hardly ever see an alliance player so the perks are nice

You have quests to kill enemy players which hold quite decent rewards though.

I did play with it on for a while on Alliance, but couldn't find any decent fun fights so just turned it off. I wish they had a -10% XP toggle though since leveling is so damn fast. That way, weirdos like me can slow down and enjoy all the content in the new zones while leveling, without screwing over those that like to get to cap for their real playtime to start.

    Gut Out!

    What, me worry?

  • evdaezevdaez Member UncommonPosts: 131
doest mean a difference when i turned it on... i actually liked having another 3 buttons on my action bars.. wished i could retain warmode abilities in dungeons.
  • esc-joconnoresc-joconnor Member RarePosts: 870
I have it on while leveling an alt. Haven't tried at 120, but might give it a go if I can get in a group

Lmfao who you think the several raids ganking flight paths for achievements were comprised of?

    A - Hardcore pvpr
B - hypocritical cotton soft pvers

On, because the server I'm on is super limited sharding server. Which pretty sure they forgot to shard it properly, as most areas in the game outside of BFA, I'm literally only one there with warmode on. Its great. And its also the least populated server in the game in any region. So I almost never see anyone around and only BFA is slightly more populated. So with it on, its the singleplayer WoW I always wanted with sometimes a random NPC (player) to populate the game world.

I remember thinking when I read about it that it was just a way to spin "server mergers".

Had to make a slight clarification for you.

Not sure why some insist killing others in a many to one situation makes them "hardcore."

Always on all the way up until I stopped playing a few weeks ago.  War Mode was easily the best feature of Battle for Azeroth.  Granted, as the population began to thin it became ... less exciting.

Always on. Found many hordies with it on too, but just for the buffs and pvp talents applied on monsters, never attacked me.

in a funny way, now that war mode exists, I got ganked way fewer times than when it was tied to a pvp server.

When I see a red I like to /wave or /bow and they always say hello back and go on their way.

this is my experience too from the rare times I do see someone. Haven't been attacked yet except once and the guy ran off when I was winning him and didn't feel like chasing him lol. he came back, bowed, clapped did a train emote and helped me kill a 120 boss and then I helped him kill the 120 boss.

Who knew war mode would encourage and promote cross-faction cooperation like that :)
