We know how Strike Commander was three years late, with over a million man hours of work wasted.  We know that Digital Anvil folded after years of work, with no in-house game ever released.   We know that Chris Roberts will move the goalposts with little regard for complexity or difficulty of deployment.

Some of his valiant defenders are also good at that goalpost thing.....
You must be new to game development :D

No, at the time of the SC kickstarter, I talked to 10 friends and acquaintances who had worked with Chris at Origin.  It led me to being (rightfully) skeptical.

The words disorganized and vainglorious were mentioned often.  Amongst others.

But the man can sell the dream, that we agree upon....

If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.

So if you went to a restaurant, ordered and paid for your meal and the waiter stands there telling jokes and making you laugh, providing you with good old fashioned fun but then proceeds to inform you that your meal cannot be served because the chef is in hospital for food poisoning - have you won?

Clearly you have never been to a restaurant before and should never go to restaurants. You just don't know the scale and scope and complexity of having ice water in a restaurant. But, if you read this menu here, you can see the chef has plans to get ice water made.

I suppose none of those "10 friends" are doing a game like Star Citizen are they?

Cause I would like to back them too if they were B)

Can always count on these guys with the typical strawman comments including but not limited to 'most ambitious and no other game with scope' yadayadayada bullshit or 'game development is hard' yet there are literally dozens of game released every week of some kind or another.

Yet you seem to play none of those games released by the dozens and still obsess about Star Citizen :D Now that's cute.

Well we all know how well Entropia Universe is doing, it's niche for whales (not for most people) which is pretty much what I expect out of this game. For those who like to blow shit tons of money on digital services with no tangable return, as @Erillion would say "Have fun".

yeah I think if you buy all the DLCs and whatever they have added to it its close to 300 bucks. Still nothing compared to what SC has been trying to charge for a game that isnt close to being released.

yeah I know the 'base game is 30 bucks' whatever. First there isnt a game and second there probably wont be. But even if there is anyone jumping in without spending any money is not going to have much to do. The few streams I watched tonight were basically guys sitting at space ports waiting for people to leave so they could gank/grief them. Now with what they have put out thats pretty much all there is to do I imagine but to think that wont be what everyone who has spent money on this will do is pretty naive. As long as the ships leaving are inferior to theirs that is.

I wish it would release because no matter what it will most definitely be the biggest failure of all time in regards to MMOs and probably multiplayer gaming in general. But again way too soon to even talk about that since its still years away if it ever comes.

LOL this doesn't compare to Entropia on the slightest, it's a normal MMO where you play and grind for things and has micro-transactions as well.

Entropia is a casino, earning currency is a literally out of question, it's money vs rigged loot tables.

Man when you think hateful delusion doesn't get any worse... xD

It's not even 90% Hyperbole / 10% Content on that comment, it's more like 99% Hyperbole / 1 Content ratio, one can see how hollow your narrative is by how much hyperbole you have to use to build it up lol. Anyways your rants always have gems like this so I don't mind :p

I swear the constant SC improvement and progress will end up melting you.

Ok I'll give you that, Entropia is a casino/gambling. So Really the best comparison is SC will be more like Second Life in space without the BDSM. You pay $350 for a ship instead of a homestead and house, minus the monthly service fee.

    bwaahaaaa really?

I go by what I see and watch. You guys post random screen shots and self proclaimed nonsense (which is never working as well as they claim) and cite it as vast 'improvements'.

I watched maybe 90 minutes of streams last night (to see these kraken lotteries going off) and during that time I switched around the top 4 or 5 channels, and in every single one of them they crashed at least once, and had guys on their chat crashing and needing to relog. Not to mention all the clipping through ships and spaghetti avatars going on.

Yeah a really solid 'alpha'. with a 100% CTD rate on guys who literally had their systems bought and paid for by Chris Roberts himself with backer funds. If they dare put up the VoDs you might want to check them out. Generally I dont watch but after watching its even WORSE than I post here. Because I am generally going off generic and older feedback from people who are actually trying to 'play' whats available. For full disclosure one of the guys I watched was on the PTU not the 'live' but I dont think that matters as much as people would think since theyre all test beds anyway.

5,6,7, how ever many years people want to spin or claim its been in development, 200 million raised (allegedly) at least 10s of millions spent and they dont even have a stable alpha. Or full persistence, or any other 'backbone'/core elements of every other MMO in existence.

You have a couple space stations a couple dozen ships and a moon or two. And a bunch of single player instances where you shoot AI ships. Its a glorified flight simulator. What little bit of 'PvP' I saw was what you would expect. Guys in bought and paid for ships with a few of their buddies manning turrets trying to gank smaller ships or solo guys leaving space stations and even then the failure rate was laughable. Ships constantly jumping away and getting to space ports even with a hammer head or whatever other multi gun ship guys buy blasting away at them for 3-4 minutes (which in a PvP fight is an eternity). Ships with little to know flight physics despite this narrative its 'lifelike' you have ships that dont drift you control back and forth and can move on a dime no matter how big they are and zero overflight or going past where you want to on a maneuver. SO even that sales pitch is a load of bull.

Like I said I dont watch enough to notice or see enough guys actually try and 'play' the simulator enough to see this stuff in action but it was last night and I see now why streamers who are paid to promote SC arent 'playing' it because when they actually get off a space station or try and do something that isnt 100% controlled (as in they know it wont crash or lag or show shortcomings) it totally exposes this thing for what it is.

And while bugs are a part of any 'alpha' these infest what little bit they do offer. Which isnt much. Which again is a major issue. When the scope of the alpha is so limited (ironic considering the fanboys claim this is the project with the most aggressive scope ever) and half the stuff there has some sort of bug its not a good look. Last night those 4 or 6 streams I watched showed that in spades. Generally when I bother to look its guys testing landing or walking around a space station or trying something goofy (bugs there as well but not as extreme) but they do their best to do things they know wont bug out.

Like I said people can check out the VoDs (if they saved them, somehow I doubt they did) or they can try and find someone who streams it and actually leaves a space station during that stream or tries a legit 'gameplay' scenario to see how it turns out. Or I suppose they could waste a few hours download the client and do one of the fly free weekends and see for themselves.

I'm playing a game that is released and it crashes on me so these days I am not sure what to expect any more. Alpha though means crashing right ?
