There was a day when I wouldn't miss a single ST movie or TV show. Discovery has cured me of that habit.

I don't hate Star Trek Discovery, but I certainly haven't fallen in luv with it ... yet. It just doesn't feel like ST to me most of the time, but instead a decent to good scifi show. I viewed season one & I'm mildly looking forward to viewing this upcoming season two.

For the Discovery content introduction into Star Trek Online however this happened last year with season one to an extent. Even with the short video, the two main ships have already been introduced, of course through gambling methods, & the other will be the highly anticipated Discovery Klingon Bird-of-Prey which will probably be acquired by gambling as well. I'm expecting more coherent Discovery content introduced though with this reintroduction. Cryptic has already stated there will be at least two new in-game missions & I think a beginning ship Focused on this Discovery story line so it looks to be a fuller play-through compared to the Jem'Hadar abbreviated "season". Some in-game have speculated & stated in chats that the reason the Jem'Hadar content was so short was to shift creative resources for this Discovery content.

Oh well wait & see with fingers crossed that Cryptic doesn't muck it up too much.

the jem hadar season was short because the creative director changed.

I saw season one also and have very little interest in Season two.  Just too many changes for me.

I watched a Star Gate Universe review the other day and the guy was saying how universe only lasted two seasons because they had alienated their fan base, they said they were interested more in attracting new viewers.  The problem was they had hit that sweet spot in which it was too different for fans and had too many references to the series for new viewers to get into.  This seems to be a Hollywood trend as the same was done with Star wars, and now Star Trek.

It will be interesting to see what they do with Capt. Picard.  Till then I'm pretty much sticking with watching The Orville.

SGU was a complete headache show inserting drama and intrigue. I thought pat stew has control on the picard show direction that's why he agree to be on board, and also the ceo of cbs also has changed because of the sexual allegation, pretty much it depends on the new ceo decisions. shrug.

That makes some sense too given the timing of it all. I know recently Cryptic has made more positive announcements, imho, compared to negative announcements about STO. Thanks for the insight, vegetableoil!

I started watching Discovery. I even let CBS bend me over and pay extra to see it. And while it has its moments, it's not Star Trek. It's something else entirely. And I stopped watching.

Screw this pay to win garbage . They havnt instituted a new gameplay feature since crossfire season 4 in 2012. Just more story more grind and more reputation. It's a whole they havnt crawled out of in 6 years. How about innovate with some new gameplay features. Finish the planet's, finish the starship interiors do something !! I'm done.

Your so right about this. Its basically a game for whales now. All they care about is milking money from fans that have no place to go for Star Trek and they know it. They keep added rep.grinds as content with a few new episodes. Only suckers keep playing this game. People spend thousands of dollars in this game.

STO sucks badly. There are so many better games to play, even the mobile version of ST is better.

Will never watch this unless it is out from behind a paywall. I don't care how cheap it is, charging extra for a Star Trek series is blasphemy.

The abbreviation for Star Trek Discovery is STD. The show should be avoided like one.

I left the game because they insisted on forcing this abortion of a project on us all. They even have the habit of banning people from both reddit and their own forums if you at all speak out against their precious STD. I don't think I'll ever be back!

Please folks, if you get enough people to stop logging in for the sake of both the game and the Star Trek IP as a whole it might send a message to them that they are doing something the entire fan community is against and it might just make them remove the content at the very least.

This is a message from an original lifetimer who bought his lifetime membership before the game launched. I'm not some hack that just joined the game only to call for a boycott.

Yeah, I don't think so. After the first episode I said no thanks. Then they wanted us to pay to watch ST, and that's an absolute no. Then they virtue signaled and it was a big hell no.

Star Trek Discovery is a huge advertisement for The Orville, picked up season 1 the other day, epic! Can't really see STD being all that good for  STO  ;)

Was surprised how good The Orville actually was. It has its silliness but it is actually closer to being Star Trek than I ever imagined it would be. Great show.

Another DLC to pay for less then 5 months after the last one, WOW, Cryptic is suddenly very desperate for money :(

I agree with you both.  The Orville is great & definitely has that more traditional Trek vibe to it.  It's not great throughout completely, but the majority of the time it is good & it leaves me wanting to view & learn more of The Orville universe.

It seems, to me, at least with the last couple of Cryptic content releases is that they might be focusing on smaller packages of content in hopes of having more announced releases throughout the year.  I'm not a fan of quantity over quality but I realize there has to be a balance.  Part of a ruse to entice players to pay more for less.

Even with ship releases the last couple of times Cryptic is only offering Fed & KDF neglecting Rom versions, but to be fair to Cryptic they lessened the price for the only two ship pack a bit too.  I'll give Cryptic a pass a couple of times on any Jem'Hadar version since their ships were just released like you mentioned just a few months ago.

In a side note, dang the last couple of weeks one can tell a significant drop in the playerbase when online, but then again academics takes over & no BIG event for players to salivate for.

I can't think of any reboot I have seen in recent years that I enjoyed as much or more than the original. It's clear that they are made for a totally different generation. This latest Star Trek is probably the worst of any ST I have seen yet. I lasted one episode and that was it.

I'm not an IT Specialist, Game Developer, or Clairvoyant in real life, but like others on here, I play one on the internet.
