Irene Vartanoff, Severin's close friend and former Marvel employee, announced Severin's death on Facebook
Severin first began working in the comics industry in the late 1940s, when she was a colorist for EC Comics. Severin would eventually work for Marvel Comics starting in the late 1950s, where she served as the company's head colorist until 1972. Severin would also go on to co-create Spider-Woman and design the character's costume.
She was inducted into the Will Eisner Comics Hall of Fame in 2001.
