Like any other Battle Royale game, having a large, unique and compelling map is one of the cornerstones to exciting gameplay. If the playable area feels too small for action, the aesthetics are lacking, or it feels like a chore getting from point A to point B, then we have created something that is doomed to fail. The Zy Universe team has spent multiple hours working over how our levels are going to look, feel, and be played from a map full of players, down to just a few survivors that are hunting each other.
Showcased in the image, is just one zone to the larger map. This
zone is full of platforms that will allow players to make the choice of jumping
or falling to get to the desired destination. Each zone is designed to have multiple
ways up and down while also containing spots that are very high risk with a
great reward. By allowing the player to have the choice of going up, down, left
or right, the zone feels less punishing if the player misses an opportunity to
get to the desired destination.
A well designed zone should feel constant in progression, while also keeping a players senses heightened, since at any time the player may encounter another player in the zone. The goal for Zy Universe, like in any other Battle Royale, is to loot, shoot and win; however, the goal for the Zy Universe team is to develop a beautiful and functional map that players will enjoy spending their time in.
