I'm hoping this rotation of resource gathering effectiveness is also balanced by tougher monsters and increased loot drops somewhere else (as an example), so that the game dynamically encourages players to rotate what they focus on. This would be good for all types of players.

An example of the benefit is that players that like to "dabble in a bit of everything" will be able to change up what they want to do for maximum effectiveness, but players who are dedicated resource gatherers might keep gathering even in the winter season, and still find a good market because fewer people are willing to compete for less efficient resources. Maybe these gatherers would need escorts because monsters are much more dangerous, drawing in more combat-focused players. Dynamic change to a world that has checks and balances is almost always a good thing.

In current testing phase. The game has come a long way. Very excited for the class system and the multiple ways you can build your character. Very excited for the frostweaver class. Excited to see how the seasons effect gameplay.

    How's the engine and performance?

It is a nice feature to have a seasonal variation. I like it. +1 regard for the game for me. Put it on the radar a bit more. But will see how it shakes out. But it is heading toward the innovative scale so that is great. The more innovation, the more likely that I am to play it.

I am mildly interested, an outlook about new games that has served me well over the years. :)

Are there really not any benefits for the playing in the Fall/Winter months?

There has to be some benefit to winter. Like +5 to ice cube collecting or something!

I think the intended effect may have something to do with trying to nudge players towards periods of "build up" in the summer/spring periods and a more PvP/destruction focus on the fall/winter periods?

All I need is some rain or weather effects going in and I'll be good to go :)

When campaigns start they will be free of the hunger, with normal animals and abundant natural resources. As the campaign progresses, the hunger takes hold and infest the world. There will be fewer natural resource, but it will introduce new hunger based resources.

Technically all it will do is increase the grind. That's basically what you're asking for.
