So this is 100% a reskin of G2A even down to the horrible practice of paying extra to "assure" you get a good key and if you don't you contact them. If you don't add the protection, they say tough shit. That said I just ordered Summerset for $12~ish. If the code actually works well then I saved a handful of cash. It still is a scummy third party market place with no doubt Russian re-sellers of stolen or shadily aquired keys. I don't know how I feel about mmorpg.com sponsored by them but someone has to pay the bills and I'd be a hypocrite if I said otherwise when buying from their system.

From what I can tell, you're not buying directly from Gamivo but people they have selling certain products since there's "offers." I think I'll pass on this one.
  • wesjrwesjr Member UncommonPosts: 506
Same, I would be worried about losing my key down the road lol

There are many possible ways they can do it:

    1) Some other regions where wages are lower get get their games cheaper. They may resell those keys

    2) Use stolen credit cards to buy keys, then sell those keys

    3) Take customer's money, don't send them a product

    4) Retailers get their physical packages a bit cheaper. It's possible to buy those packages in bulk, open them, and resell the keys if your employment costs are low enough

    5) Ignore all taxes. Many of those websites don't pay VAT. Also gamivo.com isn't really selling those keys, they're just matching offers between seller and buyer a bit like ebay. Many of the sellers ignore income taxes and other official fees.

To be honest I'm surprised that mmorpg.com would agree to make a sponsored article on gamivo. It's possibility to save money, but it's shady and unreliable.

Nope, their data center is in Dallas, it is a dedicated server, check here http://www.cpgventures.com/

Traces start with the originating host IP and then goes through the routes until it reaches you.

I read an article on the idea about a year ago.
MOST of the time,ANY notable gaming business or streamer etc etc can get games or keys for free. This is part of marketing and by giving out keys to possibly notable people like popular streamers it helps market and sell their products.

Now how Gamivo gets them is simple, they buy from those very people i mentioned who actually got those keys for FREE.
Now the dirty part,in the interview/article i read the developers know this goes on and does not condone it but usually can't be bothered to check up on all the free keys they hand out or trace the actual codes.

So long story short, this is actually big business, anything that can be had for free is quite often taken and resold in this case Gamivo is the reseller who got hose very keys for likely half their value.
I happen to have been there watching listening to a Greenman gaming rep a couple years ago who was questioned about selling keys that don't work.It was a simple response, they can't check all their sellers legitimacy but simply offer full refunds if keys don't work.

IMO this is maybe not identical but is very similar to buying a stolen TV off of a thief,in this case nothing is really stolen but the INTENT of the keys was NOT to be sold but instead to be used, sort of similar but not entirely.

Yeah that site looks like a gray market. Some people have never had problems *so they say* with them but there are just as many horror stories as good stories. I could be wrong but looks like a copy-paste of G2A.

I've bought maybe five discount keys over the years and have had no problems with them.  Also it's one thing to actually have something like that happen to you or someone you actually know  then to pass along something you've heard that's been passed along the internet.

So Vampyr which releases in 5 days and is normally priced on steam @ $49.99 (pre-order sale @ 10% off putting it at $44.99) can be bought on this site for $34.88 and with the MMORPG50COM code its $20.92? I dont know if I trust this. I bought alot of stuff off of GMG and never seen this big of a discount esp. on games that haven't even released yet.

I bought a State of Decay 2 key without buying the extra insurance. Key was already claimed when I entered it into the Windows Store. Opened a support ticket and after providing the Date of Activation from Microsoft support, they sent me a working key. I found the customer support to be quick in replying and after proof is shown they did the right thing and provided a new key.

Kinda surprised MMORPG ok'd this post. I wouldn't trust it, especially when they're offering NEW games/expansions at discounts. It would be one thing if it was for games that have been out for a while and they were scooping up old copies from store shelves for cheap. But I wouldn't trust this.
