Why aren't we seeing more players on screen during demonstrations?

I can visibly see that the game is not playing smoothly when it is being demonstrated. I would like Intrepid Studios to prove their concept. As Fevir suggested in his video, we never get to see any demonstrations that would quell some of the concerns people have about the Unreal 4 Engine.

I encourage you to look very closely at the demonstrations and you can see the frame rate is well within eye-detectable levels. (sub 60). That choppiness is exacerbated when a large effect is on screen. I understand the game is in Pre-Alpha but the same dungeon environment, with a few changes, was used seven months ago. Most amateur Unreal 4 Engine builders could get something like that running properly within less time. The dungeon run isn't really that long.

What is now a greater concern is that Intrepid Studios has stated they are using their own proprietary netcode. Whereas, with something this small scale, the regular netcode for Unreal 4 would have been fine. This worries me more as the title seems to struggle in small scale and I doubt it would be able to handle large amounts of players at the present.

As Fevir also suggested, we should be able to see something the game has promised at this point. It's driven by hype and promises that have not come to fruition at all.

But lets encourage Intrepid to do a medium scale demonstration the next time. Merge several groups together like Fevir suggested at the end of the dungeon or during the dungeon.

Lastly, a game so focused on PVP should be demoing PVP engagements not PVE dungeons. What are they afraid of?

Isn't the game in an actual Alpha? I believe it is. An actual one, not a marketing one.

Also, I believe there is a video floating around of a small raid of sorts.

    edit: Pre-Alpha?

Well.. since it's pre alpha, I'd say they're not "afraid" of anything apart from just having a game in a playable state that they can show off.

You're asking them to show a released title rather than a game in pre alpha.  Even in an alpha state there's still a lot of things to do which includes optimization.

Seeing how quickly they've announced the title and had content to show should actually be a testament to how far they've come in such a short amount of time.

Development teams shouldn't be held accountable to where one person or a group of people say they "should" be at.  They are where they are.  What kind of entitlement is this that we should be able to dictate what state the game should be in and what they have to show us?

I hadn't watched any videos until I saw the one posted above. Being alpha or pre-alpha i was expecting some choppy game play. I am actually very pleased at how smooth this looks, and sharp things are. I feel its actually pretty far ahead of most other games that are even in beta at far as performance goes.

I really think expecting a specific framerate at a specific period of time after development starts is a bit much. They clearly have a lot more work to do though.

I've been a backer too,  in the end they should be lucky if the game launches at all lol

Have we had even a semi-successful MMORPG launch from a kickstarter?

fever seemed to have edited out all the parts showcasing the new zone, probably embarrassed about also being wrong about PAX East having only PAX West assets lol.
