Albion Online News - Albion Online will be getting a big new update on May 2nd that will bring a number of significant changes to the game. Most notably the "Lancelot Mid-Season" patch will see a rework of siege camps along with "wide ranging weapon and armor balancing changes". In addition, and due to player feedback, a re-spec option will be added to allow players to "move skill masteries between paths on the Destiny Board".

    Perhaps character development slows over time such that waiting to make changes you want to your build through natural progression takes so long they feel some players will pay to bypass that.

    Yes, I get why players would want that. They even said it's because their balance changes alter the meta and players don't want to level new skills. So they're shortcutting their own progression system. This sort of immature design process is why I think people go off indie MMOs after such a short time.

    These guys are repeating mistakes made by better studios and games. They didn't design their progression system with their gameplay loop and "meta" in mind or how players would want to react to that. They made a skill progression system they felt would be like UO and then went off on a different gameplay loop entirely. They should make their skill progression system more like GW1 and ditch the "MMORPG" grind. It doesn't fit well.



    This respec change looks like a way to cater to casual players and that's a good thing imo. They tried going hardcore and it didn't go so well so it makes sense to try something else.

    Good to see they are still willing to do what's needed to improve the game.
