.... and that the majority of funding going forwards is a small subset of players such as yourself.  ....
For your information ... i have one ship (a Constellation) and one account.

The number "2 million" is not irrelevant - in that respect i disagree with you. The number will generate more publicity, which will result in more paying backers, if the history of this project has taught me anything.

It's no more a milestone than saying 2 Million people crossed 5th avenue today. One person could have crossed 1000 times today as a crossing guard. Nobody knows.
Even if it was two people who created all those accounts (it has to be more than one because of myself), it would still be a milestone and great achievement for that person to create all those accounts! jeez, give the person some credit. I hope you are not someones boss >.>

No one except CIG knows for sure.

There are theories, hints and guestimates, but no official CIG data so far.

So you're okay with a game faking numbers so it appears more appealing?

If it was a personal achievement I would be much more inclined to find it impressive.

"Star Citizens" are those that created an account. Personally i do not think that this number is faked.

LOL, never understood how anyone could ask for proof of something they them self can't prove what they originally stated. These conversations about SC always leave me entertained.

In my first post opening this thread i posted as evidence a screenshot.

You can also look up the current number of "Star Citizens" here:
    https://robertsspaceindustries.com/

You can believe this number ... or not. I do believe that this number is correct.

If someone has other evidence - perhaps hinting that this number is faked, i am interested in seeing it. I posted a verifiable piece of data. One can judge the veracity of this data and the company that provided it (CIG) herself/himself. As I did.

And yes ... these conversations about SC always leave me entertained too ;-)

You're saying that the number isn't "faked" meaning that you believe all of those accounts to be 100% genuine accounts?

Have you been on the Star Citizen Forums lately?  I'm not even a member, I went on there, took me less than a minute to find several people saying they have more than one free account.

2 Million accounts created isn't a fake number, but who created the accounts, and how many, and why?

In your theory, if 1 person creates 1000 accounts, that's good for the company, right? It makes other people believe that they should spend money because more people are interested in the game.  That's what you said.  That would be faking accounts. If it were a financial institution that would be considered fraud.

No judgement either way.  Just trying to clarify your opinion here.

Those account numbers include my account.  Every Goon account.  Every refund account.  Probably includes DS's original account as well.  ;)

I consider any pronouncement from CIG that's not testable to be as accurate as their proclaimed release dates.   Their fudge factor permeates the organization.

I never cried ina game before, but when I flew to a planet and landed on it, I was in tears of happiness. No game has ever created that level of immersion , ever  f, for me. It was one of the greatest mmorpg experiences of my life :) .

Why people want to shit on this game is beyond me, but what ever floats the wannabes boat I guess.
A lot of games allow you to fly to a planet and land on it.  But that's besides the point.

I don't see how anything I've said "knocks" the game.

    Just stop dude, just stop.
I can name several games that have no loading screen, that allow you to customize your ship, land on planets, etc.  I can name several MMORPGs that allowed you to do all that, without the seemless landing.   But I will stop, a single cry per immersive game is enough.

And this is the very reason the 48k is still the best computer in the universe. I could fly all over the galaxy, compete in the Olympics, fight a bunch of renegades, kill all the aliens, deliver all my papers. Don't really know where you can go from there, all seems kind of pointless.

I think this is the view from yela.

As witnessed by these charts, the more people "signed" up the more the funding rose, which in turn allowed the work force to grow to the 475 employed game developers in 5 studios that CIG have today.

And to think the only reason there was a kickstarter to begin with was to prove to a private investor that there was an interest in the concept.

There are hundreds of my posts here on this forum without a "Have fun". Especially in the "Star Wars Galaxies" and early "EVE Online" sections.

No hard-coding ... this is typed in fair and square ;)

... and i DO wish people to have fun. Even if some do not believe it.

On other websites, often not computer game related, i use other phrases. Like "May you live in interesting times". Or no phrases. As the mood takes me. But i tend to be consistent in what i do.

You're saying that the number isn't "faked" meaning that you believe all of those accounts to be 100% genuine accounts?

Define "genuine". Assumption: one person only creates one account.

I am on the Star Citizen forums almost daily.

Who created the accounts ? Why ?  I do not know. I have not developed telepathy yet. But it would be cool. And a burden.

    How many ? -->  https://robertsspaceindustries.com/

But i suspect you mean how many have been created by the same person(s) aka multiple accounts. I do not know. See remark about telepathy above.  Is it likely that some people have created multiple accounts ? Yes. Does this change the message in my first post ? No. Because i just report a number and state the opinion that this number is high. That this also suggests to me that the number of backers is high.

In my theory a large number of accounts is good for the company. If 1 person created 1000 accounts, i pity him/her. And given the number of 2+  million, that would be an effect of 0,05 %. And carpal tunnel syndrom for the person that did it.

If you were a financial institution, you could not care less about the number of website accounts that a  computer game has. You would send a squad of due-diligence and/or credit-worthiness experts to the company and wait for their final report. Maybe you mean company tax accounts. Which is not the same as website accounts.

LOL you want to argue semantics after the fact.  You originally said "game" then you had to qualify it had to be an MMORPG.  Might as well tell me what MMORPG means to you too, because Elite Dangerous can certainly be classified as an MMO.

But it doesn't matter.  Most of the games I mentioned are released titles, not alphas.
