The event was complete with a firing range for slingshots and crossbows, ATVs, a meet and greet with everyone’s new favorite in-game pup, Boomer and a supervillain style helicopter entrance from the game’s charismatic preacher: The Father, Joseph Seed. But you’re not here to see what kind of party Ubisoft throws… you’re here for the game.

I felt that way too until Primal. That was a nice departure. Hoping this one is the same.

The only Far Cry I could bare to play was Blood Dragon because it was actually original and fun. Change the ambient, still same ubisoft "map full with icons get up in that tower to reveal it".

Far Cry is my all time favorite shooter series and I have Far Cry 5 gold edition preordered (which includes Far Cry 3 Classic Edition with preorder)
I love the new setting and glad to see a Far Cry game in the USA for the first time. My wife is from Montana and she is excited to see the landscapes and compare them to the real Montana landscape.
    Very excited for this release!

Thank goodness. I enjoyed your video and I have recently came back to single player gaming and have been having a blast. Now if I could just get an affordable 1080 card lol

I previewed the game on a PS4 Pro.

This sounds interesting. I'm glad the towers are gone. I didn't care for that. The cool thing about the FarCry and Assassin's Creed series are the setting changes.

I'm not sold on the multiplayer. I hope it works out well, but it sounds clunky. Most campaign multiplayer is like that.

This franchise would be great in a shared-world RPG format like Secret World Legends. That's how shared campaigns should work in games like this. It's very narrative focused, but still cooperative.

The Far Cry series has the most fun emergent gameplay of any shooter series I have played. No two play through are the same. Though 2 is my favorite, I have played FC 3 and FC 4 multiple times a piece. I have a feeling 5 will be no different :)

I love the original Farcry and Farcry 3 is one of my favorite games.  I could not get into 4 that much and I never tried primal.  I will  be ordering the gold edition of 5 though.  I love the setting and seems like the villians will be good.  I have been looking forward to it since it has been announced.

Oregon has been a cult magnet for a long time. It still happens, all the time. There is always some group of wackos in the news. This is only a couple steps away from reality in some ways.

The seamless MP is one step away from an always online Far Cry. I'd LOVE THAT. But I'm probably dreaming.

Yeah I remember reading about the Rajneeshee nutters back in the 80s. Those people were seriously and dangerously batshit crazy.

As to the game, Far Cry 5 might be a personal record breaker for me as it will be the first single player game I've bought at release in ages.

Something about this game rubs me the wrong way, on one hand it reminds me of the political corruption and the massacre in Waco Texas involving the "branch davidians", as well as the charged nature of labeling anything a cult, especially when its linked to potential "christian" imagery. It might not be so much of a problem if they chose some fictional imagery, such as Cthulhu or something along those lines.

On the other hand... with the heavy politicization of some games today, it always makes one wonder of there is an agenda or confirmation bias driving some of the creative design choices. When you are a gamer who is constantly thinking critically, stuff like this really pops out.

That said, it does look absolutely amazing from an art direction point of view.

Richard Ross... Anyone looking into his back ground, and contacts, will understand what is at play here. I can't say I'm surprised, given the times we live in. Other than that it looks like an interesting game.

Actually would love to hear more about that, if its a cult in the mid west, did anyone get baptised in a river? From the UK here, and that happens in every film and TV series I see about that mid west so they must have done? ;)

He's talking about Rick Alan Ross a cult expert and deprogrammer. Ross is Ubisoft's cult consultant for Far Cry 5 and I'm assuming Wraithone is intimating Ross's work against the Branch Davidians in Waco.

What I want to know more than anything is how is it that these guys that review games, so are incredibly bad at them? I mean most reviewers I see play a game in their review, are horrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrible at playing them.

On a side note, why don't any of these ppl who review this game showcase the hand to hand combat, the stealthy side of things instead of guns a blazing style gameplay.

Montana is a western state. East of Montana is where the midwest begins. It's also considered a rocky mountain state. Out here since so many states are "western" people describe the regions differently. Western Montana is often grouped in the Pacific Northwest (PNW) states or much less often the rocky mountain states. Pacific states are Oregon, Washington, and California. California and Montana are often just referred to without a region designation because they're so freaking huge, covering more than one region, so they're just called by their state name. Confusing all that, a lot of people consider British Columbia as part of our region for many purposes.

Culturally speaking Western Montana (along with Eastern Washington, Eastern Oregon, and Idaho) have very conservative (right wing) values. As a whole people in that area of the PNW treasure gun rights, personal rights, local over federal government, and all the stuff you might typically associate with "murica". It is a staunchly Republican stronghold as is most of the PNW except for Western Oregon and Washington.

Our region attracts extremist groups because they're looking for a place to operate without interference. A lot of people move out here because outside of Seattle/King County, and a much lesser extent Portand, most of the region is rural and sparsely populated. Lots of people come here to live out the western fantasy, live off the grid, or find seclusion. Cults, para-military nuts, extremists, and other wacko groups make up a portion of those. Most find that their fantasy of the wild west isn't as fun when it gets hard.

I hope that provides a little better picture of the regional detail. I know often when people refer to areas and regions in the UK I get the broad stereotyped trope instead of a more local perspective. I hope it's helpful.
