I hope it succeeds and gets a decent playerbase. LoA and its servers are super dependent on player population to make the game feel at all alive. Low pop will spell death for LoA (beyond from just a sales perspective).

This kid posting under “Goratrix69” (Impersonating me), got banned from the shard for bad mouthing the GMs and some other shady crap.
Not the most reliable source of information, so if you all want to have a concrete opinion, I suggest you go check out the server.
I’m not coming back here to reply to anything else he might say and waste anymore of my time.

    Have a good one!

First of all, i am not banned from the server. You were there when gorgan, one of the devs, killed us and disabled our characters for you to loot us, he ported you into our village, and changed the zone name to fuck you. What was the reason for it? and why there wasn't even an explanation? It is all good, we learned that legends of ultima crew is not professional and not honest. And all of you have been warned.

O and people can flame me for this but. No Trammel does nothing but make this game to be MO or the hundreds of other Free UO shards that have at most 1K players on them and most have less than 50 people play on it. This game will not last long trying to make the very small group of Pre T2A players out there. Just look at MO.

I understand this concern. So far this server seems to have a steadily increasing population with over 150 to 200 on at all times. Admins probably know more specifics and I'm sure there are a lot more guildmates off in places I don't even see frequently. I have not been PK'd once in my month of playtime, though a large amount of that has been spent mining and crafting. My GM warrior has been attacked once during a solo dungeon crawl, but the economy of the game (and I know as a crafter of gear) is set up so that losing armor kinda sucks in the moment but is cheap enough with player vendors to restock easily. Especially non-exceptional gear... It's dirt cheap for dungeon sets! The guard mechanics are still evolving too. I think you can generally avoid PVP if you try to, but the threat of danger keeps you on your toes and makes every situation more exciting. PVP helps the player run economy and makes guilds/housing/events more interesting. There are plenty of anti-PK players too to help fight!
My core problem with the way the game is setup is that the guards dont work right.   I seen a video of a red killing players at a bank and running off the guards never getting him.   I also spoke to someone who got PKed in a city and crafting mats taken before the guards got the player.   The player still kept the loot.   The simple fix is to make the Guards work exactly like UO guards work.

I played UO Pre-T2A and loved UO until 2003.  With that said, I would never go back to a game that has Open world PVP with Full looting.   LoA has this.  Yes they say they have Safe zones, BUT even in Safe Zones players can kill you.   There is a Video out there of players killing other players at a bank there are also reddit post about being killed at a blacksmith in a city and being killed.

Their System is I attack you and instead of getting an instance guard whack like I did in UO, Guards port in and chase me which gave me the time to kill you and take your stuff.

Are shard operators not allowed to create custom rule sets? So can't the shard operator just change it to NOT be full loot pvp?
Thing is I want to play on a server were there will be several thousand players not 50 to 100 players.

So you are looking for a different game then, perhaps Pantheon?

I don't see any mmo having that feature in the future. Most gamers want to be spoon-fed with content and have top knots graphics. No company has or will been able to code that. Even the well funded Star Citizen will have meshed servers, meaning there might be 1000s of players on the same server, you only will see a small number in your instance of the world.

Shards Online / Legends of Aria allows you to swap servers. So new players will keep refreshing private servers hosted by good communities. You will have even more servers to choose from then there are UO freeshards. Okay you might start with nothing on unofficial servers, but hey a good community will help new players out.

Looks good as a nostalgic idea but why would i play this over many better choices, not like i have two or many different lives i can split into different games.MMORPG's are time consuming,so i have to make the best choices,UO,Eq,there time has passed.

yeah, once people get used to it is makes the game more exciting. . still sting and more immersive without losing everything. . When balanced well it works. . wear what you can lose etc.

I did  get through all of what you said.  I think most people would be cautious since it is a privately run shard.  It seems like you have a personal interest so I would love to hear the other side to this.

The last part is what I actually agree with the most. . They should not have any logos or direct references to Ultima at all.  I would imagine they would be asked to stop and would do so though without having to close down . . unless they have completely copied the entire world etc.  I don't know enough about it.

UO freeshards use the official logo with some very minor adjustments, game assets and art from Official UO, official rulesets from what ever UO era they are working under. Legends of Aria will have no problem with marketing their server as UO2, UOContinued, UO whatever it may be and use the Rules and Assets that mimic a UO Era they wish to play under.

Legends of Ultima also will have a custom map of Sosaria sometime after launch of official LOA game. SO, UO rules, name, assets and map. UO2 Indeed.

I've been playing Legends of Aria again since the beta started.  It's neat, but it's still fairly buggy, as is to be expected.  It has potential, and I hope the player base grows substantially, especially with the Steam launch.
