So sorry about the flickering... I am not experiencing that in the game, its just the OBS software I was using at the time needed an update and my computer is 7 years old.

Damn, just look at around 7 min. All the flickering, choppy lag when walking or attacking.

Yes quite bad . Looks bad gave me a headache after a few mins but first person is not something I can play or watch. Glad you're enjoying it.

I had to stop watching around the 8 min mark because it was making me feel sick (the 1st person view, fov, and janky framerate); did you end up killing anyone apart from that guy who was mining a node and didn't fight back?

    Made me laugh..

The only game with open pvp I played was Age of Conan and it always went the same way.
Some rogue in stealth would wait until I start talking to a quest npc and then backstab me faster than I could hit ESC to quit the cutscene.

I don't understand the appeal in killing people who can't fight back.

The point of this video was not for bragging rights obviously... it was that a person can go out and be a ninja and earn stuff on day 1. It was actually much funner grinding up in enemy lands as opposed to home... I was able to buy tons of stuff with the loot I accumulated from the harvesters.

My mouse pad is a magazine right now and I am way out of practice. Having loads of fun though, it is so nostalgic right now! Seems that this week was more active than the last week as far as seeing new players come in.

Unlike the old game, there is really no need to unlock new spells at home so you can grind up far away if you want to! Just make a trip or two back and forth for someone to make you gear with everything you get... like mounts, armor, and weapons, etc. the rest can be farmed off of mobs in enemy lands.

I will be making another video which will be all of the encounters I had in human lands a couple days after these ones were made... I did much better that time around! Had some more real fights instead of just testing the game as a noob.

It didn't seem like you were connecting when you were swinging your sword. I remember there used to be more of a sound? Is there an issue, did that change or is my memory off?

So sorry, it doesn't look like that at all while I am playing it... my computer is 7 years old and going to die... I have several monitors and stuff... running too many things at the same time. The flickering issue is something with OBS software, I fixed it (or rather they fixed it) with an update.

Well my character was only about a day old when I went out to PVP so... most of the people who were also just barely starting was a duel match (they ran and made it back to the tower) but its still fun to chase them and if I wasn't such a terrible aim with this magazine as a mouse pad and out of date setup (and lack of player skill/experience at the moment) than I would be winning much more. I think I got a couple with stuff as good or better than what I had but cannot remember.

This is not Age of Conan... its a full-loot game so I was happy not for giving the AFK person a hard time but because I knew I had scored some loot! When I had returned to Alfar lands I had a bunch of goodies and had the best swords available in the game so far crafted by a fellow Alfar then went to human lands (even more dangerous area than Elf) for more "grinding" . ..

If anything, just wanted to show that someone can hop in the game at day one and have some PVP excitement is all.

Sorry feel bad now but what I meant was the gameplay was quite terrible to watch. I know you were having fun but it did not translate well on that video. I can understand your enthusiasm but I'm afraid this video was not the best way to convey that.

I was just missing them and being bad... hahaha I need practice... I think the hits weren't registering right on a starter weapon for building up the critical hits but they fixed that the last patch. Remember that the next time you get attacked while harvesting if you play (maybe try fighting back, they could be totally new).

I wish that I was running a computer that was current and up to date of things so I could turn up the graphics and turn on the shadows and stuff! Unfortunately, I need money and spent my saving on my girlfriend on a vacation to California and few months of her able to play Darkfall and not work with me for fun. We had a great time!

Now I am saving up money again, her computer broke (she got a new one already but its a laptop, cannot run games), and hopefully soon I will be able to enjoy the latest and greatest. This game is insanely fun though, I've been having trouble sleeping because I feel like Disney Land is tomorrow and I am 5 years old or something. Something only someone who follows FFA PVP games might understand when a good one is launched (they die so the fun only lasts so long).

Its pretty awesome that Darkfall has lasted this long (8 years?). I've been subbed to one game or another or all of them the whole time... I do have a life outside of video games though but right now its my therapy and works good. Needed to cut down on drinking its working... replaced one addiction for another (but still have occasional drink).

The excitement is that if you win you get stuff to craft you some better things... from the harvesters (which are rarely AFK... but on day 1 that's the best target)... and if you die and also transporting the goods that I had acquired (somewhere around 600+ ore I accumulated so far from them?) is risky and gets the heart beating because if I die than I lose and it was a waste of time... never do I know if someone is going to kill me right afterward (or even the harvester)...

The main complaint that people gave in the original Darkfall was that they felt it took too much time to have any fun in the PVP so I think its important to show that its easier to do so now from day 1. You no longer have to ride home to unlock skills, so you can transport goods back and forth and grind up in enemy lands for more excitement. Sometimes my heart jumps!! Its a great feeling when there is a risk involved like there is in this game if you play it like this.

If you want to avoid PVP that is easier than before too because people do not ride around starter towns as much as Rise of Agon or the others before it... since they know that if they die they cannot return to their bindstone and they have not setup ready bags for return trip, etc. If you do choose to look for PVP its more rewarding now because people are more likely to have better gear. Often times I travel around with almost 900 lbs of gear which will become a regular thing as more people catch on to the love of localized banking.

ITS MUCH BETTER THAN HAVING TO WAIT UNTIL YOUR CHARACTER IS DEVELOPED BEFORE YOU GO OUT AND HAVE FUN! (like in most MMORPGS... black desert, etc. etc. etc. almost all the others)

Also... if you plan on making a trip to carry very valuable things you can prepare gear bags and leave them in various chaos banks on the way, so that if you get killed you can rush right back to where they killed you since there is no longer any way to fast travel... and when transporting goods they won't even be able to loot everything.

Assuming of course your idea of fun is stealing other people's stuff, regardless whether they can fight back or not.

I get some people enjoy that, and looting is fine after a decent fight between warbands, but being a gatherer type who usually is ganked while severely disadvantaged I'm not a fan of that sort of gameplay.

You want stuff, quit being lazy, go gather your own materials and craft some of your own. Stop trying to take them from me.

People call me a carebear but I'm the one taking most of the risk of loss knowing I can't win if jumped. I see myself as the more courageous one.

Don't really think there is such thing as people griefing much in this game for a few years now... might run into a few people without mercy but for the most part people only take what they need and don't do many of the things some did in the original Darkfall... the whole community gets to know you in a game like this one kind of... or at least those around your area who matter to you. Its typically frowned upon to kill the same person over and over again, when I see the same harvester I leave them alone usually... unless they are far out there because they probably have much more stuff than me or its been a couple days or something... same goes with the people I have fought at goblin spawns, etc. After one fight I just say hi and startle them after that and let them decide if they want to fight again. I've been pretty nice so far as an "evil Alfar" compared to some people in the first game. Seems that the EU population is pretty chill for the most part.

Even in this video you see me stop and make sure that I haven't killed the person before... because one of the girls looked like another or something. Its just common courtesy... I ran into the guy who killed me with all those fancy fire spells again after the video and he left me alone. If I appeared to be ready for another fight he may have gave me one though, of course.

I very seriously doubt you would die much and would dress up... IF you played. (like that is ever going to happen lol I've read like 100s of your posts before)

People who look for fights get fights... people who don't want fights learn to avoid fights (maybe after a couple lessons of how)... its pretty easy to avoid PVP if that is not your thing.

I know of many people who do not play this game for the PVP... and never do it unless their clan city is sieged or something for some assistance. The PVE players I never see get killed in the event log... once they learn the game they know how to be safe, the world is huge!

I ran into the guy who killed me with all those fancy fire spells again after the video and he left me alone. If I appeared to be ready for another fight he may have gave me one though, of course.

I won't doubt that you speak for yourself with the above, but I seriously doubt you speak for the entire PvP community in Darkfall with the above.  Matter of fact, I seriously doubt you could come up with any OWPvP game in which there was any such thing as people "not griefing much."  There is no such creature.  That may be true in Asia, but not in NA.

You should seriously stray away from making blanket statements such as PvP players in Darkfall "only take what they need" or they refrain from doing many of the things some did in the original Darkfall.  That is laughable at best.  The same community of players that played the original Darkfall, play this version of Darkfall.  Its not like there's a whole new community of PvP players playing this Darkfall, or that they have all come to some sort of revelation and become this bastion of civility and consideration for other players.

I get that you are a huge fan of Darkfall and OWPvP in general.  It's your type of game and it fits your type of playstyle.  Great, I can respect that.  However, if you are trying to sell people on this game, you should at least make it sound credible.   I seriously doubt anyone that knows better would be so gullible as to believe the above posted nonsense.

If anything, just wanted to show that someone can hop in the game at day one and have some PVP excitement is all.
Yes I understood that and my point is still that I don't see the "pvp excitement" in killing afking people.

I see myself as the more courageous one.

    ;)

Why? Its very true... there was only a handful of hardcore griefers in the original and they all quit years ago.

Even in the original Darkfall lots of people had this attitude once the game started to die... my GF and many like her were left alone because everyone knew she hated PVP. They would however usually kill me if I was with her though and leave her alone... no instances and a game like this you get to know everyone living nearby. If there is a problem with someone or a clan it only lasts a little while. The most cruel people get now a days is simple clan vs clan with neighbors.

When going around killing people the ones who don't fight back are no fun honestly and most people get into the habit of ignoring them a lot of the time.

She was killed maybe once a week or so... not much of a set back.

Some clans are more hated than others, I guess it depends...

Sure am positive that if I didn't want PVP I would be able to avoid it easily. There is load lag when someone is nearby, bunny-hopping to get away, mounts, stamina pots for mounted sprint, guard towers, allies, spies, etc.

If you are trying to avoid PVP you probably won't die much in this game.

If I played a game like this I would run around naked because i know I would be killed all day....
Isn't that what people did in the original Darkfall?  :p

It looked to me like that guy you killed while he was mining was afk mining (because he didn't react at all). Is that still a thing in Darkfall?- Do you just plop your toon on a resource and it will keep farming it until it runs out (could take several minutes to deplete)?

I used to do that in DFUW- start chopping a tree then go and do some work or read a book and come back 30 mins later to see if it had finished farming that node.

Not really... from what I have noticed you only get like 15 things from each resource so semi-AFK would be a better word. I hear that you can get more the further out you go though. Makes me appreciate getting 200 ore from somebody much more than before knowing this. They seem to weigh more as well.

Sorry about that.  I didn’t recognize you.
