Strange Monitor or Video Card Issue

NorseGodNorseGod Member EpicPosts: 2,654
When ever I turn on my computer, the resolution of my second monitor keeps changing or doesn't display at all. I cannot change the resolution or find the second monitor in the display settings, I always have to reboot the computer. I continue to reboot multiple times until the second monitor displays the correct resolution.

I have two new cards in SLI. I have tried different combinations of unplugging cables and ports and cards and cards in PCI slots and setting the second monitor as main display; always the same problem. Drivers are updated.

Thought about swapping the battery out of my new MoBo. Or the monitor is going out?

I seriously don't know what to do at this point. Was hoping someone here had a similar issue they resolved.

What hardware do you have, anyway?  List the specs of your computer, including your video cards, monitors, motherboard, power supply, and so forth.

That sounds like a problem with the monitor: If you have verified that the computer, GPU port and cables work with monitor 1 then they should work also with monitor 2.

You might want to test how monitor 2 works without cable connected into it. It should display error message "no cable connected" if you don't connect the monitor cable at all. If there's something wrong with that message it's easy way to tell that there's a problem with the monitor.

are you using a displayport cable?  try swapping to hdmi if possible, I've had lots of issues with displayport in general

Why would you put two 1070's in a SLI setup when you could have just bought a 1080 ti and got the same performance?  I try to avoid doing any SLI any more, too many issues with it.
