Do you wish Nintendo would get out of the hardware business and become a publisher?

Yes, they should go developer/publisher and forget hardware. Their hardware is underwhelming tbh. Even something novel like the Wii was really just a gimmicky box for frat boys and senior centers to play Wii Sports on. Nintentdo fanboys like to act like it was a smash hit and hugely popular with gamers when it was a toy that lots of random people bought and then basically never bought any more games for.

3DS is fine. Again the hardware is nothing to write home about, it's the games that people want. Wii U was a joke, even Nintendo fanboys can barely muster the effort to defend it, and now we have the Switch which makes no sense.

It's a portable with a short battery life and is advertised as a social gaming system where people apparently want to hold a tiny controller while huddled around a 6.2 inch screen ... wat? And it docks to become an underpowered console, wohoo?

How about just give us Zelda? There's nothing special about the control input on the Switch (again proving the Wii was a gimmick and not innovation) so I would only benefit from being able to play Zelda on a better machine.

If Nintendo does want to continue as a hardware + developer/publisher as it has been, then they need to step up their game.

Yes and No.  To be honest, I want to play Mario and Zelda on my PC, especially Mario Kart, and I would rather them not tie their best IP's to their own hardware that I don't really care for.

On the other hand, I would like them to keep making hardware too.  Although I never touched it myself, my three kids played the hell out of their Nintendo Wii.  It was the perfect hardware for their age at the time.  They've moved on to PC and PS4 themselves, but when they were all in the 6-12 year old range, they loved the Wii and I think they would have loved the Switch too if they weren't past that demographic.

I wish nintendo wasn't so cheap and greedy. They make some of the best games in the industry, but their tactics are just cringe.

On the one hand, I do wish Nintendo would open up their proprietary IPs and allow them to be published on other platforms, particularly PC. They don't necessarily have to allow other companies to develop their IPs, but certainly putting them on other platforms would be nice for me and profitable for them.

However, I also want them to stay in the hardware market. They may well have a very inconsistent track record and their hardware is usually underpowered compared to their competition, but they do at least keep experimenting with new ideas. Considering the general stagnation that occurs in any mainstream entertainment, be it film, tv, books or gaming, I place great value in experimentation and applaud the companies that do so.

So, whilst I think the switch is a bad idea, I'm still happy that Nintendo are trying something vaguely new. I wont buy one as I don't think it is a good idea, but I'm happy for them to try and I'll be happy if they succeed. The same with the Wii U. Putting a screen on the controller is an interesting idea and I enjoyed it's functionality and the console in general was well put together, just marketed really badly and had few games available.

No absolutely not. Would really prefer not to see a rerun of what happened with Sega.
As it stands I'm more than happy with a PC and a Nintendo console.

Nintendo has always been highly over-rated... most of their games were shit, lets face it. Sure they have a decent amount of classic good games but for every good game there are more than a dozen complete waste of time games.

Its always had a very 'kiddy' atmosphere too... characters with enlarged heads and just very cartoony style in general. I'd prefer more adult-oriented games any day, and few other companies have done that for me much better.
