Rogue with Heavy Crafting Elements

MexenlivesMexenlives Member UncommonPosts: 42

Hey guys!   I've been searching for a game to suite my tastes.  I'm a long time MMO player and would like to jump back in with my recent PC build.  I generally play a roguish thief type character and love to craft.  Houses, armor, weapons, food..whatever!  Due to this fact the extra need I suppose would be a player base.

Games I've played and might be willing to try out.

*WoW

*EQ2

*TESO

*Guildwars 2

Games I've no interest in.

*Eve (or anything space really.  Just not my thing)

*Eastern themed games.  IE anime/cartoonish.  WoW would be the lower bar in this respect.

Anything out there for me that I may have overlooked?

Thanks in advance.

Could try Black Desert Online as well, only 5-10$ barrier of entry but I'm sure someone has spare guest passes so you can try the game out before buying.

Dark and Light is supposedly going into Early Access in December and supposed to have a heavy emphasis on crafting plus you can control what your character learns skill wise, eventually being able to learn everything. Its more of a survival game but will have both PvP and PvE servers.

FFXIV is an eastern-ish title but you can play all classes on a single character as well as learn all crafts. Their crafting system treats crafts more like classes, where you have to gear them up and level them with synths giving exp instead of actual skill levels.

Rift just recently released their new expansion, so that might be put on your radar if you're interested in WoW.

Archeage is going to have their fresh start servers on the 10th of December without cash shop until months later supposedly, so the economy will be fresh. You can play all 'classes' on the same character as well. I say 'classes' because you can combine three at any time to make a 'class.' So if you wanted a dagger weilding rogue casting fireballs, you could do that (might not be good, but you do have the choice). Only thing is the game is open world pvp and very server dependent for events (not much cross server instancing I believe), so take what you want from that.

First, thank you for the reply.

If I'm not mistaken BDO is kind of anime/eastern themed?  Please pardon my ignorance if it is in fact not, but that is what I remember of it.  The financials do not bother me if the content is worth it.

FF14 is something I have considered.  Especially being a FF fan in general.  My issue is that I'm fearful that it may detract from my other FF experiences sort of in the same way TESO threw of my Elder Scrolls experience.  May sound dumb, but the letdown was surely there.

I'll look at DandL.  Thank you.

You know, these little thieving Hobbitses, right? Burglar class, stealthy with daggers.
Crafting? Well, houses cannot be crafted. Almost everything else, could. Armour, jewellery, weapons, housing items, health and power potions, stuff to increase critical crafting, armour dyes, housing items - and valuable Essences.

For really heavy crafting with little (but very helpfull, loyal) population: Istaria.
Can't recall classes - too many of them and you can multi-class. Become Warrior, then Cleric, then Mage, then....
Multiclassing crafting (and player-driven economy). You can also build buildings or help build other players' ones.
