I need to spend more time in the game and figure some more things out. I was kind of bummed that the inventory starts out so small, but at least it can be expanded quite a bit over time.

Yeah. If you do your black spirit quests, you can get quite a few extra slots.
Someone also linked this back when the game was launching; a list of all the inventory expansion quests in the game.

They recently gave away some free slots too as login rewards for the loyal players. I imagine they will again in the future, since they seem to be running these events every few months (although the rewards can change).

My SWTOR referral link for those wanting to give the game a try. (Newbies get a welcome package while returning players get a few account upgrades to help with their preferred status.)

I might be biased but I do think you should at least try Darkfall. RoA if in NA, DnD if EU. Like, even if you don't end up playing it, the experience you'll get is worth it. Crafters are sought after in this game. Sure it has some things you won't like, but overall its probably one of the better options for you.

Plus, since AV dissolved, the new owners are making the game into a much better version of its past.

EDIT: I'd seriously look into Crowfall when it comes out, also.
